Under the direction of the Associate Executive Director, the Advanced Director of Aquatics ensures the aquatics experience is safe and fun for members and program participants.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for overall Aquatic management of Lifeguards, Competitive Swim Team, Swim Lessons and safety of the pools.
  • Oversee safe delivery of swim lessons, indoor and outdoor pool operations, and SAW (Safety Around Water) community outreach program.
  • Creatively promote and increase swim lesson participation and implement new Aquatic family programming.
  • Supports direct reports in hiring, training and supervising the aquatics staff and develops a team that is passionate about delivering a high level of service to members.
  • Develops, implements, manages and uses data to evaluate operating plans to promote programs and/or membership growth.
  • Develops and controls department budgets related to the Aquatics.
  • Ensures that program and Association standards and policies are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Serves as evening/weekend Director on Duty on a rotating basis.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in a related field, or equivalent, preferred. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three or more years of aquatic management experience required. 
  • Three or more years of YMCA director level experience preferred.
  • Ellis Lifeguard Certification will be trained. 
  • YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Trainer preferred.
  • The ideal candidate has a proven track record of building strong teams, is organized and has the ability to manage day-to-day activities in the aquatics department.
  • Superior relationship-building skills, computer proficiency and excellent communication skills are essential to succeed in this position. 
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $50,000.00
