The Gymnastics Director will provide leadership for the gymnastics program including participant and community relations, curriculum development, direct instruction of participants, overseeing coaching and teaching staff and maintaining safety. This individual will work with the gymnastics staff to develop and implement quality recreational and progressive gymnastics, and related programs for all ages, knowledge of competitive gymnastics and will serve as a resource for the gymnastics team coach. Additionally, this position will be responsible for scheduling staff, facilitating trainings, budget development, and serve as member of our management team. Strong interpersonal skills including the ability to communicate clearly and effectively, the ability to teach a variety of learners using appropriate instructional styles, and a passion for gymnastics is a must for this position.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Serves as an ambassador of the YMCA, exemplifying the four character values of caring, honesty, respect & responsibility, with members, guests, program participants, the general public & staff.
  • Directs and supervises gymnastics program activities to meet the needs of the community and fulfill YMCA objectives.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed to deliver quality, impactful programming. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensures records of staff certifications and mandatory Redwood’s trainings, are current and complete.
  • Ensures Director or Coordinator provide program area coverage until 6:00pm Monday through Friday.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands programs in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Develops and implements recreational and progressive gymnastics and related programs, including working with supervisors and staff to design effective and appropriate lesson plans, and regular evaluation and improvement of existing programs.
  • Works with marketing to distribute program information.
  • Adheres to and monitors program budget to meet fiscal objectives.
  • Coordinates use of facilities for program activities and events.
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events.
  • Models relationship-building skills in all interactions. Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
  • Actively participates in Program Committee meetings
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  • Monitor gymnastic equipment and area for safety, maintenance and replacement needs.
  • Maintains cleanliness & orderliness of the gymnastic area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum of 3 years gymnastics instruction, and lesson planning a must.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,000.00 - $37,000.00
