Under the direct supervision of the Executive Director and consistent with the Christian mission of the YMCA, the Youth & Family Director is responsible for the development, management and administrative operations of all youth and family programs at the Kannapolis YMCA including but not limited to: before/after school, playhouse, day camp, youth & family programs and Active Older Adult programming (AOAs). The Youth & Family Director will implement character development as a chief mission of the YMCA and will personally exhibit a commitment to the goal in all YMCA operations.
Areas of Responsibility:
- R.O.S.T.E.R. (recruit, orient, supervise, train, monitor, evaluate and reward) all Youth Development staff & volunteers to include: B/A school staff, program coordinators, site supervisors, camp counselors, Playhouse attendants, climbing wall/teen center staff, Y-guide leaders and/or others as applicable.
- Ensure development, implementation, maintenance and evaluation of all youth development programs and related activities.
- Responsible for the development, implementation and tracking of all youth development budgets and sound fiscal management of the entire department and all program/activities and events therein.
- Attendance, active participation and leadership in all staff and committee meetings.
- Develop, present and maintain a quality image throughout all related departments & facilities.
- Responsible for the promotion and marketing of all related youth development programs and events.
- Responsible for the supervision and safety of all children and adults within department, including the appropriate discipline within established guidelines.
- Evaluate all youth & family programs regularly and make necessary and timely changes to grow program participation and engagement from the community.
- Implement quality control of all youth development programs and activities through the use of quality management tools.
- Plan, schedule, market & implement monthly youth development program events.
- Evaluate the needs for older adult programming, plan and deliver programs and services as needed.
- Develop and maintain monthly reports to include but not limited to: Executive Department reports, Finance Variance Statements, Evaluation Templates, Enrollment tracking, Payment Administration.
- Assist in association-wide functions to include but not limited to: Annual Support Campaign, Marketing Plans, Quality Initiatives, Events, Management and Training.
- Perform additional responsibilities and other duties or activities as assigned by Executive Director.
Educational Background:
BA/BS degree in related field is preferred

- Minimum 2 years of experience working with youth and families
- Knowledge of childcare, camp, B/A school, family and teen programming

- Must be attentive to details, be able to work with and meet deadlines, take initiative to develop and provide information and controls necessary for safe and efficient operations.
- Must be able to take initiative in making decisions and solving problems in the areas of assigned responsibilities and in the best interests of the YMCA
- Ability to work efficiently independently with little supervision and as part of a team.
- Organizational, time management & problem/conflict resolution abilities
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $33,000.00 - $37,000.00
