Assist Senior Program Director by implementing, coordinating and supervising activities that relate to Kankakee Area YMCA School Age Child Care as well as YMCA Teen Programs and mentoring. Provide a quality experience to participants and parents focusing on YMCA core values: honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assists to manage, direct and coordinate the School Age Child Care program and Youth/Teen Programs. Ensures high quality programs and establish new program activities. Expand program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
- Assists to recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct personnel and volunteers as needed. Assists with reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
- Assists to develop, manage and control budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
- Assists to assure compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
- Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
- Develops and maintains relationships with parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned program. Responds to all agency, parent and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner.
- Maintains proper records and department files. Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Attend staff meetings.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
- Assists to develop, implement and incorporate Y best practices into all areas of responsibility.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent plus both of the following: 60 college credits with 18 credits in a child related field or 1,560 hours of experience in a child related field
Skills/Experience:
- Experience in child care related field and working with teens
- Experience preferred in one or more of the following areas: arts & crafts, songs/music, sports, aquatics, recreational games, etc.
- At least 21 years of age
- CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse Prevention training within 60 days of hire date.
- Previous experience with diverse populations preferred
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $26,000.00 - $28,000.00
