Assist the Senior Program Director with sports programs that exceed the expectations of the members, program participants and the community. He/She must be able to grow and expand all programs as well as develop new program initiatives that will expand the services of the YMCA and have a greater connection into our community. He/She must be a team player and must attend all meetings that are deemed necessary. Incumbent should be outgoing and able to interact with staff, members, program participants, volunteers and the community in a positive way. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides excellent service to members, guests, and program participants in person and on the phone.
  • Monitors facility access through membership scans and Raptor database searches. 
  • Builds relationships with members; helps members connect with one another and to the YMCA.
  • Handles and resolves membership concerns and informs supervisor of unusual situations or unresolved issues.
  • Facilitates sports equipment repairs, routine maintenance, and overall cleanliness of the program area. 
  • Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Transports and sets up equipment for games and practices; monitors and purchases necessary sporting equipment as budget permits.
  • Conducts the creation of teams. Conducts the organization of parent orientation meetings, and training and meetings for coaches.
  • Conducts the distribution of team practice and game schedules; assists in the training and scheduling of sports officials; and assists in the distribution sports rules, guidelines and handbooks.
  • Conducts the distribution of team uniforms and awards; assists in the coordination and distribution of team photographs.
  • Conducts end of season parties and events.
  • Conduct sports clinics.
  • Referees assigned sporting events, as needed. 
  • Conducts the marketing and distribution of assigned program information.
  • Continuously expands and grows programs.
  • Researches potential partnerships in the community.  Creates ongoing collaborations.
Skills/Experience: 
  • The Sports Coordinator must be available to work a schedule that includes evenings and weekends.
  • He/She must be a self-starter that is focused on building strong relationships.
  • He/She must have strong organizational and planning skills and must be able to manage multiple priorities.
  • He/She must have dependable transportation to assist with both on-site and off-site sports programs.
  • He/She must have a commitment and passion for working with youth and families and have excellent customer service.
  • He/She must be able to work independently and be able to problem-solve.
  • He/She must be an excellent communicator understanding the importance and follow-thru of communication with all staff, participants, volunteers and the community.
  • He/She must be proficient with computers.
  • He/She must be able to complete required trainings including but not limited to First Aid/CPR, Child Abuse Prevention, Sexual Harassment, and New Staff Orientation within the first 30 days.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $26,000.00 - $28,000.00
