The YMCA of Greater Kalamazoo is seeking an experience HR professional for the Association. The position will oversee all aspects of human resources practices and processes, support the business needs and ensure proper implementation of organizational strategy and objectives. The goal of the position is to promotion organizational values and enable business success through job design, recruitment, performance management, training and development and talent management. This position reports to the CEO. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Administers compensation and benefit programs, including job description and classification, salary structure and salary adjustments.
  • Oversees benefit plan communication, enrollment and administration.  Assesses the competitiveness of human resources programs and practices against the relevant markets and makes recommendations for improvements and changes.
  • Oversees HR systems and employee records to ensure accuracy and improve the overall operation and effectiveness of the organization.
  • Works closely with CEO to accurately perform payroll processing bi-monthly. Ensures timely and accurate submission of data requested by EEOC, YMCA of the USA, Department of Labor, IRS, etc.
  • Works with our management team to develop plans for: talent management, including training, staff training and leadership development, retention, recognition, employee communication and career development. Assesses and evaluates training and staff development needs and develops programs to meet needs.
  • Works with all program directors to ensure the timely annual completion of all performance appraisals. Provides assistance to directors on questions related to personnel policies and procedures.
  • Remains current on employment laws and regulations and serves as point of contact and manages relationships with compliance agencies and YMCA legal counsel. 
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human resources or equivalent preferred; or equivalent work experience. PHR or SHRM-CP preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three or more years of direct experience in all aspects of human resources management, staff development and/or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge and professional experience in planning and policy, talent management, selection, compensation, benefits, training and staff development, employee relations, and performance management.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Proficiency in business and human resources related computer applications, which may include payroll systems, talent management systems, time and attendance systems, Microsoft Office, etc
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $40,000.00 - $48,000.00
