Ensure implementation and delivery of quality teen and young adult programming association wide. The manager builds relationship based, quality programs, special events and classes that deeply engage youth, specifically the teen and young adult population, in the Joliet YMCA. Programs may include, but are not limited to, Teen Achievers, Teen Leaders Clubs, Mission Trips, College Readiness Tours and programs, Leadership Conferences, College and University Service Club recruitment and support, family nights, special events and marketing expos. Also provides support to association-wide youth development programs in the areas of strategic development of behavior management plans and overall family support.
- Working in conjunction with the Smith Executive Director, taking initiative and direction from the ED regarding the day-to-day operations and group leadership of all programs serving youth ages 13-26 years of age, including retaining current participants and recruiting additional participants.
- Organizes and plans an inclusive schedule of programs, events and classes for youth, teens and young adults of all ability levels.
- Strong initiative in developing new and innovative programs will be part of the daily routine.
- Builds effective, authentic relationships with teens, parents and community organizations, helping them connect with each other and the YMCA.
- Helps coordinate marketing and promotional efforts on programs and as appropriate refers students and parents to other YMCA programs and services.
- Supports the development of association-wide youth development behavior management plans and overall family support plans.
- Helps the Executive Director who is responsible for preparation of annual program budget and monthly review. The Manager helps ensure registrations and administrative duties are processed in accordance with program requirements.
- Actively recruits and trains program volunteers and staff. Conducts department staff and volunteer meetings as needed.
- Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
- Highly flexible schedule with varying hours including working evenings and weekends.
- Minimum age of 21.
- Two to three years related experience preferred.
- Previous experience with training, mentoring and supervising staff and volunteers preferred.
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
- Strong motivation and passion for working with youth and teens.
- Ability to work with and engage diverse groups of people in a friendly and consistent professional manner.
- Ability to oversee motivate and inspire staff and volunteers.
- Ability to display passion, enthusiasm and support for the mission and values of the YMCA.
- Availability to work flexible schedule that aligns with program and event times, including evenings and weekends.
- Child Abuse Prevention, CPR, Bloodborne Pathogens, First Aid and AED certifications required within 30 days of employment.
Salary: $40,000.00 - $43,000.00
