The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Senior Research Specialist researches and analyzes the impact and outcomes of WWP programs, coordinates and executes research initiatives related to generating new insights about those WWP serves, including methodological design, data collection, and data analysis, and composes technical and non-technical manuscripts, reports, and presentations to inform internal and external stakeholders and advance the mission of WWP.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Develop internal research agenda and enterprise-wide research portfolio in collaboration with the WWP Metrics Research team.
- Streamline and coordinate collaborative research initiatives across WWP programs and with external partners.
- Convene and collaborate with researchers across other Veteran’s Services Organizations (VSOs,) agencies, and institutions.
- Generate new research initiatives, and propose, design, and implement all phases of research projects, and leverage valid and relevant resources, while maintaining appropriate protocols and documentation.
- Effectively communicate research findings, implications, and recommendations through different modes such as manuscripts, brief reports, multimedia presentations, and workshops to a variety of audiences, including scientific, academic, and government communities.
- Regularly engage with the WWP Government and Community Relations teams to conduct and leverage research to inform and support WWP policy and legislative agendas.
- Prioritize projects and assignments to meet organizational deadlines and priorities.
- Analyze, interpret, and report trends and insights generated from large scale, longitudinal datasets and produce informative and actionable insights.
- Clearly communicate research findings and conclusions and improve and optimize WWP programs and operations.
- Collaborate with metrics team and teammates across the organization to gather and interpret complex data.
- Serve as an internal resource and subject matter expert (SME) on statistical best practices and analyses.
- Represent WWP at external meetings and events.
- Other duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Master’s degree in business, data science, or other relevant field of study. Equivalent combination of education, experience, training, or certification may be considered in lieu of degree.

- Experience in generating policy or practice recommendations from research-based evidence.
- Strong organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to be flexible and adapt to changing priorities and meet deadlines.
- Demonstrated understanding of veterans’ issues, veteran service organizations, and policy and legislative affairs.
- Demonstrated ability to use quantitative and/or qualitative data analysis software packages.
- Demonstrated computer proficiency using Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
- High energy level. Self- starter; willing to take initiative.

- Five years of research experience, including designing studies and analyzing data.
- Five years of experience composing manuscripts for publication.
