The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Senior Applications Training Specialist designs and develops technical and operational training content and materials for organization-wide systems, and technical training programs for applications training, e.g., Workday and Salesforce.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop a learning and development strategy for technical projects to train users to use information technology (IT) applications and tools, incorporating best practices.
  • Deliver individual and group instruction and training for information technology (IT) applications for administration and programs teammates, and for IT operations including security and help desk.
  • Identify appropriate instructional methods, e.g. lectures, demonstrations, conferences, workshops, individual training, or group training.
  • Establish course objectives, program presentations, and participant manuals for projects and applications.
  • Develop training materials, e.g., training aids, training handbooks, and presentation materials, e.g., PowerPoint, based on teammates’ needs analyses and effectiveness of the instructional method. Create instructor materials, e.g., course outline, background materials, instructional materials, and training aids.
  • Create and maintain library of training documentation and guides.
  • Develop, deliver, and evaluate technical application training programs including on-line courses, self-study, and blended learning opportunities.
  • Analyze training effectiveness and metrics, and recommend and incorporate improvements to ensure quality and consistency of course content.
  • Identify, design, develop, and deliver new product and features training using appropriate delivery method, e.g., classroom, online, computer-based, multimedia, simulators, and workshops.
  • Review IT project timelines and assess timeliness of releases. Create project communication plans with stakeholders and project leads. Draft communications, in cooperation with marketing.
  • Collaborate with teammates to provide systems-related demonstrations to stakeholders. Provide recommendations on best practices and communication methods.
  • Provide training delivery and support to the Training and Development team for professional development and compliance training.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in business, education, training or relevant degree. Equivalent combination of education, applicable experience, training, and certification may be considered in lieu of degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated ability to develop and deliver comprehensive, professional training materials.
  • Demonstrated understanding of IT systems and operational requirements, policies, and procedures.
  • Demonstrated working understanding of the principles of instructional design.
  • Strong working knowledge of adult learning theory, techniques, principles, and methods to develop effective training plans and materials.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in appropriate and effective use of a variety of multi-media platforms.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Demonstrated effective group presentation and facilitation skills. Confident communicator with demonstrated ability to present information effectively to audiences, e.g., small groups and individuals. Professional presence and demeanor.
  • Demonstrated creative, insightful, and innovative approach to learning, with a focus on fun, service, and practical application of information.
  • Well-developed sense of aesthetics in product delivery.
  • Strong consultative skills with the ability to influence others. Provide thought leadership in learning and development strategies and solutions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills. Ability to effectively interact with individuals at all levels and of diverse backgrounds.
  • Effective organizational and time management skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple tasks, assignments, and priorities, completing them within deadlines.
  • Computer proficiency and technical skills using Microsoft Office, e.g., Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in utilizing training and development software, e.g., Articulate, Captivate.
  • Strong collaboration and relationship building skills. Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Working knowledge of technical applications, e.g., Workday and Salesforce.
  • High energy level. Self- starter; willing to take initiative.

Education & Experience Requirements

  • Five years of experience delivering or facilitating technical training to adult learners.
  • Five years of experience in instructional design and developing training for adult learners.
  • Three years of experience conducting training needs analyses.

Preferences

  • Master’s degree.
  • Three years of experience designing and developing e-learning interactive training.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Certified Professional in Learning and Performance (CPLP) preferred.
  • Associate Professional for Talent Development (APTD) preferred.
