The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Senior Accountant, Special Projects, will perform accounting, financial reporting, financial controls, and other related tasks.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Assist with preparation of annual Audited Financial Statements
- Prepare annual Statement of Functional Expense
- Assist with preparation of annual Form 990 and other state and federal returns / filings
- Review joint cost allocation calculation and supporting documentation
- Perform technical accounting research and draft accounting policy documentation
- Assist with preparation and coordination of internal control reviews and the audit process
- Assist with implementing, maintaining, and improving internal financial controls and procedures
- Prepare monthly investment reconciliations and related journal entries
- Complete general accounting tasks for month-end and year-end closings
- Prepare supporting accounting schedules and maintain files
- Interact with various departments throughout the organization
- Other related duties, as assigned

- Knowledge of current accounting practices (GAAP)

- High level of proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office programs, especially MS Excel and well versed in data manipulation
- High level of proficiency in the use of major financial platforms (Great Plains experience preferred)
Education & Experience Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in Accounting or Business with a concentration in accounting
- Minimum of five (5) years of accounting or business-related experience required
- Great Plains knowledge preferred
- Public accounting experience preferred
Certifications & Licensure
- CPA preferred
