The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Innovation Specialist II - PMO leads the planning and implementation of business unit level innovation and lean projects and guides project teams to identify, develop, and implement innovative changes and achieve process improvements, efficiency gains, and cost savings throughout the organization.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead project teams through the innovation process to identify and deliver innovative and creative recommendations to achieve process improvements and efficiencies.
  • Lead project teams through the Lean process to identify and deliver process improvements and business unit efficiencies across the organization.
  • Coach teammates through lean projects.
  • Develop project charters, presentations, value stream maps, process maps, and other lean tools.
  • Continually improve data analysis processes, tools, and procedures.
  • Research, evaluate, and document best practices and incorporate into recommendations.
  • Facilitate and manage group workshops on lean and innovation process.
  • Document project process and status. Update key stakeholders with timely reporting.
  • Facilitate toll-gate reviews with project sponsors.
  • Educate and coach team and others within the WWP organization on lean thinking and innovation principles, processes, tools, and best practices, to encourage and nurture innovative thinking and a continuous improvement mindset across the organization.
  • Other related duties as assigned.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree. An equivalent combination of applicable education, training, certification, and experience may be considered in lieu of degree.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated application of process improvement and documentation. Demonstrated expertise in root cause analysis.
  • Demonstrated ability to draw sound conclusions from quantitative and qualitative analysis to develop business solutions
  • Demonstrated application of innovative methodologies such as brainstorming, researching, design thinking, and generative techniques
  • Strong project management skills. Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple projects.
  • Strong researching, critical thinking, problem-solving, and analytical skills. Demonstrated ability to turn research and analytical insights into business-impacting results.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Effective group facilitation skills. Strong presentation skills.
  • Well-developed interpersonal skills. Demonstrated ability to successfully lead project teams composed of diverse team members from all levels of the organization.
  • Strong organizational skills. Demonstrated ability to respond to changing priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced, demanding working environment.
  • Demonstrated ability to influence others and influence change. Ability to establish credibility and be decisive.
  • Ability to interact with diverse team members and build effective working relationships with senior management and team members at all levels of the organization.

  • Five years of experience improving and/or documenting processes.
  • Five years of experience facilitating collaborative, cross-functional workgroups.
  • Five years of experience creating impactful innovative solutions, developing procedures, problem-solving, and implementing chosen solutions to achieve efficiencies.
  • Three years of experience in data analytics.

Certifications & Licensure

  • Lean or Six Sigma Greenbelt certification preferred.
