The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Human Resources Specialist provides Human Resources (HR) support to managers and teammates with an emphasis on talent management and employment law compliance.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Support managers with teammate relations issues and the preparation of appropriate documentation, e.g., disciplinary actions, performance issues, and separation documentation.
- Coordinate the processing of background checks and follow up to ensure timely response. Conduct initial review of background screening results to identify potential issues or areas for clarification.
- Ensure new teammate onboarding processes are completed properly and in a timely manner, e.g., I-9s, benefits enrollment, new teammate welcome package, and manager new hire checklist.
- Facilitate new teammate onboarding presentations.
- Enter and process teammate requisitions, status changes, and Workday (HRIS) transactions. Coordinate with HR teammates to maintain personnel records and ensure they remain accurate and up-to-date.
- Conduct job analyses and prepare job descriptions.
- Collaborate with other Human Resources teammates to provide seamless, professional support and service delivery to WWP managers and teammates.
- Ensure continued documentation of HR Operations processes. Prepare Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) for continuity and knowledge retention and transfer.
- Respond to teammate and manager inquiries on WWP policies and practices.
- Coordinate ongoing delivery of teammate recognition programs, e.g., quarterly awards, birthdays, and anniversaries, etc.
- Provide procedural and Workday guidance to managers and teammates as part of the mid-year and annual performance evaluation process.
- Ensure compliance with Department of Labor laws and regulations, e.g., FLSA, ADEA, ADAAA, USERRA, Equal Employment Opportunity laws, and Executive Orders.
- Respond to select human resources, compensation, and benefits surveys.
- Research federal, state, and local employment laws and recommend updates to ensure continued compliance.
- Assist with job evaluations and compensation analyses, e.g., new hire offers, promotions, pay equity reviews.
- Assist with analyzing data and preparing reports for HR leadership.
- Other related duties as assigned.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field. Equivalent combination of education, experience, training, or certification may be considered in lieu of degree.

Education & Experience Requirements
- Five years of experience in Human Resources.
- Five years of experience supporting managers and employees to resolve issues.
- Three years of experience working with a human resources information system.
Preferences
- Five years of employment law compliance experience.
- Three years of experience conducting job analyses and writing job descriptions.
- Two years of experience working with Workday.
- One year of experience working with a non-profit organization.
Certifications & Licensure
- Professional in Human Resources (PHR) or SHRM-CP or currently pursuing certification.
Preferences
- Senior Professional in Human Resources (SPHR) or SHRM-SCP.
