The Executive Director is a key role within Florida’s First Coast YMCA with an opportunity to be innovative and make a difference by expanding the Y’s footprint within the community.
This role provides an exciting opportunity to direct strategic planning efforts and develop the annual operating plans for our McArthur Branch located in Fernandina Beach, Florida which is a short commute to Jacksonville, Florida.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Lead the operation in accordance with the policies, procedures and standards established by the YMCA of Florida’s First Coast and its Board of Directors with counsel and guidance from the Branch Advisory Council. Meet all standards for licensed and accredited programs. Serve as a member of YMCA management and supports the overall objectives of the YMCA.
- Manage the total operating budget for assigned responsibility, meeting agreed upon operating net. Create a culture of revenue generation and growth.
- Direct the financial development activities of the branch and counties.
- Build a dynamic staff team which will include professional development plans for all team members, coaching, recognition and evaluation resulting in a high performing and cohesive staff team.
- Provide leadership and motivation to the Branch Advisory Council to ensure a successful operation focused on meeting community service needs. Ensure a strong and productive full Advisory Board by recruiting, training, evaluating, and recognizing volunteer leadership. Direct the volunteer activities (policy and program) of the branch.
- Meet annual campaign goal each year. Explore fund development opportunities with the Branch Advisory Council and Association leadership.
- Collaborate with Vice President, Youth Development in recruiting youth for summer day camp.
- Execute Association strategies and develop new and innovative approaches to attract and retain members and program participants.
- Manage physical facilities to provide a clean and welcoming atmosphere. Prioritize capital maintenance to meet facility’s long term needs.
- Collaborate with individuals, businesses, government, and not-for-profits to develop and provide programs to address community needs.
- With Vice President of Operation’s approval, process and implement branch strategic plan in coordination with the Association’s strategic plan.
- Through Living Our Cause, promote the YMCA ‘s Mission and serve more individuals and communities.
- Represent and promote the YMCA in the local community and develop positive working relationships with other organizations, businesses, and governmental entities. Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with community agencies in service delivery area.
- Develop, manage, and monitor the branch’s operating budget and meet or exceed budget targets.
- Direct strategic planning efforts and develop the annual operating plan of the branch.
- Ensure high levels of staff satisfaction as measured by SEER survey.
- Ensure the safety and maintenance of a high quality facility, grounds, and equipment.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree with minimum of six to eight years’ experience managing others preferably in a YMCA or other not-for-profit agency.
Skills/Experience:
- A proven record of successful leadership in the areas staff development, budget management, membership development, program planning and innovation, facility/property management, financial development, strategic planning and community collaboration.
- YMCA Multi-Team/Branch Leader Certification desired.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills required.
- A high level of professionalism is a must.
- Commitment to character development values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
- Ability to direct total operations through volunteer development, supervision of staff, development and monitoring of branch.
- Experience in management and development of staff and volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
- Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
- CPR and First Aid certifications required.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $67,000.00
