The Wounded Warrior Project (WWP) Digital Marketing Manager oversees the direct marketing and relationship management program for wounded service members, their family members, and their caregivers. The Digital Marketing Manager manages the digital marketing team as they prepare targeted marketing plans to connect with wounded service members and increase their participation and engagement in WWP events, programs, and activities.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manage a team of local and remote digital marketing staff members, mentoring them, developing their skills and abilities, and supporting them as they identify warriors’ interests, create targeted, personalized email marketing communications to connect with them, and encourage events registration and participation for the warriors, their family members, and their caregivers.
- Innovate direct email marketing plans, identify appropriate program offerings of interest to participants, and communicate with them using a targeted, personalized email approach. Ensure event descriptions are compelling to drive registration and attendance.
- Lead the digital marketing team in the creation of the Post newsletter for wounded service members, e.g., writing, editing, and distributing the Post timely and accurately.
- Manage effectiveness of the email distribution platform by testing and by working closely with IT teammates to ensure the system’s operational performance and that the data management system supports program staff requirements and communication efforts.
- Monitor direct marketing communications program performance. Collect, organize, and analyze data. Identify and track trends to evaluate the effectiveness of outreach efforts including events and activities regionally and nationally. Prepare statistical reports with performance metrics to improve effectiveness of marketing and program participation.
- Work with cross-functional teams, including the program metrics team, to facilitate smooth event and program registration and entry into WWP program. Maintain an accurate, up-to-date Salesforce database.
- Establish effective working relationships and work collaboratively with WWP teammates including regional program leadership and staff. Collaborate to ensure awareness of upcoming regional program events and needs.
- Collect regional information and insights on wounded service members, family, and caregiver population and provide to WWP public awareness and marketing managers to improve effectiveness of marketing communications.
- Identify new methods to maintain and further develop relationships with wounded service members, family members, and caregivers, and increase their engagement in WWP programs.
- Effectively communicate the WWP mission, vision, and values, and the importance of WWP programs in public forums, events, and public awareness campaigns.
- Participate in process improvement activities and on project teams as appropriate.

- Ensure effective workload planning and work schedules that support organizational objectives and customer expectations.

Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in public relations, marketing, communication, journalism, or related field. Equivalent combination of education, experience, training, or certification may be considered in lieu of degree.

Education & Experience Requirements
- Five years of marketing, public relations, communications, e-communications, or journalism experience.
- Five years of experience using Salesforce Marketing Cloud or similar email distribution system.
- Five years of experience using customer relations management (CRM) software.
- Three years of staff management experience. Five years of experience successfully performing in a WWP position, e.g., WWP digital marketing specialist, or similar WWP experience in marketing, communications, or public relations may be substituted for three years of staff management experience.

- Seven years of marketing, public relations, communications, e-communications, or journalism experience.
- Five years of staff management experience, including managing virtual, remote, widely-dispersed staff.
- Five years of experience using Salesforce or similar email distribution platform.

- Three years of experience working in a creative agency.
- Two years of project management experience.
- Certifications & Licensure
- Valid state-issued driver’s license required.
