The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is hiring an Associate Program Director to provide leadership to our Day Camp operations for the Pike & Witham YMCAs. This positions manages a budget of $175,000, operates camps at 2 locations, serves close to 1,000 campers and leads a summer staff team of 35. These camps are located in areas that are growing. A new YMCA will be opening in the Pike Community, which will lead to growth in the program.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The Associate Program Director will be responsible for all facets of Summer Day Camp, School’s Out Camp, Teen Programming and provide assistance to Before and After School.
  • The Associate Program Director will be accountable for the administration of the department, program development and promotion, implementation and evaluation, staff scheduling and supervision, and financial operation in accordance with Center and Association goals, objectives and policies. 
  • The Associate Program Director must understand their role in achieving the YMCA mission through building relationships and program development in their community.

Educational Background: 
BA/BS degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • This position requires a minimum 1-2 years of previous professional experience, working with child care and families specifically, in YMCA or similar agency is vital to the success of this position. 
  • Applicant must have basic programming skills with special emphasis on elementary and intermediate school youth and family activities. 
  • The ability to relate to all age groups is essential. 
  • Experience with volunteers, fiscal management, and program development is also important. 
  • The need exists to be current with community trends, including knowledge and application of the Search Institute’s 40 Developmental Assets (Search Institute).
  • Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed. 
  • Strong skills are necessary in supervision, management, income production, expense control, public relations, promotion, public speaking, communication skills, fund-raising, grant writing and record-keeping.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $34,979.00 - $43,724.00
