This is your chance to make a difference in the lives of youth! The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is hiring a Program Director to provide leadership to our Day Camp operations for the Jordan YMCA. This positions manages a budget of about $900,000, operates camps at 4 locations, serves 5,300 campers and leads a summer staff team of over 100. These camps are well established and are looking to build on their current successes and expand to serve new markets.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Under the direction of the Senior Camp Program Director, the Program Director will be responsible for all facets of Summer Day Camp, School’s Out Camp, Teen Programming and provide assistance to Before and After School.
  • The Program Director will be accountable for the administration of the department, program development and promotion, implementation and evaluation, staff scheduling and supervision, and financial operation in accordance with Center and Association goals, objectives and policies. 
  • The Program Director must understand their role in achieving the YMCA mission through building relationships and program development in their community.
  • We are looking for a cause-driven leader who can help our programs operate successfully through innovation, driving quality, developing and enhancing community relationships, and operating programs that our participants and staff will want to return to for years to come! Educational Background: 
This position requires a BA/BS degree in child development, recreation, elementary education, physical education or related field, or its equivalent
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2-3 years previous experience with the YMCA or a similar agency is vital to the success in this position. 
  • Applicant must have basic programming skills with special emphasis on youth activities, retention and staff recruitment. 
  • Experience in all or some of the following: youth/adult sports, day camp and aquatics preferred.
  • The ability to relate to all age groups is essential and specifically to the developmental needs of youth. 
  • Experience with volunteers, fiscal management, and program development is also important. 
  • The need exists to be current with community trends, highly motivated, mission-driven and a team player. 
  • Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed. 
  • Strong skills are necessary in supervision, management, income production, expense control, public relations, promotion, communication skills, and record-keeping.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $37,353.25 - $46,691.56
