Under the direction of the Center Executive Director or Associate Executive Director, the Director of Wellness and Adpative Programming will supervise the development of health enhancement programs for the Pike YMCA/ OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA and in accordance with Association goals, objectives and policies. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • It is primarily responsible for working with fitness/wellness & adaptive programs, committees and projects related to health enhancement and corporate contacts and any other wellness, sports, youth, or adventure programming that is offered. 
  • The Director of Wellness and Adpative Programming will directly supervise the Associate Wellness Director, Sports & Teens Director and may supervise part-time staff associated with wellness, sports as well as provide leadership for other center departments and or association initiatives.
  • They may also assist with the day-to-day operations of the Pike YMCA/ OrthoIndy Foundation YMCA.  
Educational Background: 
This position requires a BA/BS degree in exercise science, physical education/related field or its equivalent in related experience with an emphasis on wellness and health enhancement
Skills/Experience: 
  • A minimum 4-5 years professional experience in YMCA/similar agency or health and fitness establishment. 
  • Current certifications in health and fitness strongly preferred.
  • Well defined administration skills and abilities in the areas of personnel management, volunteers, program planning, income production, expense control, training, public relations and record-keeping and facility utilization, maintenance and care are required. 
  • Skills and ability to assess, evaluate, plan and implement ways of meeting the resulting needs in an adapative programming setting. 
  • The Director of Wellness and Adpative Programming is part of a staff team and must possess a leadership style that is team oriented.
  • Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed.  Strong skills are needed in supervision of staff and volunteer committees, new program development,   written and verbal communication skills. 
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $37,353.25 - $46,691.56
