As a key member of the YMCA Association’s fundraising team, the Director of Development will provide staff leadership and be an integral part of a staff and volunteer team committed to advancing the mission of the YMCA by increasing contributed resources and creating a donor-centered philanthropic culture. The Director of Development will assist the Senior V.P. & CDO in guiding the Association’s capital fundraising efforts including campaign solicitation assignments of $25,000 or more, developing communication plans and staging campaign-related events.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Primary responsibilities include assisting with capital campaign strategy, managing a portfolio of capital and major gift donors and prospects and directing center staff and volunteer leaders in major gifts.
- The Director will also demonstrate experience in developing concepts, collaborations, and resources; articulating a vision; influencing others; and responding to multiple priorities.
Educational Background:
BA/BS degree in Non-Profit Management or related field, CFRE preferable,
Skills/Experience:
- This position requires a minimum seven years of successful professional and administrative experience with the YMCA or similar not-for-profit organization and an understanding of the philosophy and nature of the YMCA. Because of the nature of the position, it requires a clear understanding and successful record of accomplishment in applying proven practices related to a donor-centered financial development process, including major gift campaigns, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. An understanding of corporate sponsorships, major gifts development, capital campaigns, and planned giving efforts is also important.
- Because of the wide scope and diversity of responsibilities, the position calls for a person of maturity and good judgment with sound human relationship skills, broad vision, organizational abilities, flexibility, and excellent verbal and written communication skills. The position also requires demonstrated experience in developing concepts, collaborations, and resources; articulating a vision; influencing others; and responding to multiple priorities.
- The staff accountability is to the Senior Vice President & Chief Development Officer for achieving mutually accepted performance goals and adhering, interpreting, and administering policies, practices, and procedures established by the Association Board of Directors.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $58,793.82 - $73,493.04
