Under the direction of the Sr. VP/COO, or his/her designee, the Association Director of Veteran and Military Services will be key in guiding resource development and program delivery for veterans, service members and their families at select Centers of the YMCA of Greater Indianapolis.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The incumbent will represent the YMCA in collaborations with other nonprofit, corporate and governmental veterans’ service providers in the community.
  • This position will also assist with volunteer opportunities for veterans and service members at the Y, in collaboration with the Director of Leadership Development and Diversity, Inclusion & Global Strategies, and promote efforts to hire military/veteran employees.
  • Incumbent will assist with developing the Veteran community within and across the YMCA.
Educational Background: 
This position requires a BA/BS degree in organizational development or an equivalent in experience. 
Skills/Experience: 
  • Current or past service in any branch of the U.S. Military is highly preferred. Experience with the YMCA or a similar not-for-profit organization is highly desirable.
  • Excellent verbal, written and interpersonal communication, presentation, and facilitation skills are required, as are strong project management, analytical and problem solving skills. 
  • The ability to guide others in the support of change management is also required. 
  • Proven ability to establish and assist in maintaining collaborative partnerships with individuals across a broad range of groups is required. 
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills are a must. 
  • Commitment to the YMCA character development values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility is required.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $44,069.22 - $55,086.52
