Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Wellness Director will be responsible for all facets of the health and wellness programs at the YMCA at the Athenaeum.
Areas of Responsibility:
- This includes, but is not limited to, the supervision and direct involvement of group exercise classes, wellness programs, Personal Training, Small Group Training, active older adult programs, and wellness coaching. The Wellness Director will be responsible for the development and administration of the department, program development and marketing promotion, implementation and evaluation, staff scheduling and supervision, and financial operation in accordance with Center and Association goals, objectives and policies. Candidates must understand their role in helping build relationships and a small community atmosphere among our members.
Educational Background:
Bachelor’s degree in exercise science, physical education/related field or its equivalent in related experience with an emphasis on wellness and health enhancement
Skills/Experience:
- This position requires a minimum 2-3 years experience in YMCA/similar agency or health and fitness establishment. Well defined administration skills and abilities in the areas of supervision, volunteers, program planning, expense control, training, and record-keeping and facility utilization, maintenance and care are required. The Wellness Director is part of a staff team and must possess a leadership style that is team oriented.
- Due to the diversity of responsibility, a high degree of organizational ability is needed. Strong skills are needed in supervision of staff and volunteer committees, program development, written and verbal communication skills.
Compensation/Benefits:
Salary: $35,591.00 - $41,988.00
