This is your chance to make a difference in camping! The YMCA of Greater Indianapolis is hiring a Program Specialist II- camp to help oversee our Day Camp operations for the Fisher's YMCA’s.
Areas of Responsibility:
- This position is responsible for ensuring our camp programs operate successfully. We are looking for a cause-driven leader who can help our day camp program innovate, drive quality programs, develop and enhance community relationships, and make the camp program one that our campers and staff will want to return to for years to come! Additional responsibilities will include overseeing School’s Out Camp, working collaboratively with the team of Camp Program Directors to enhance quality, relationships, and staff development.
Educational Background:
A high school diploma, or its equivalent, is required and minimum 1 year college preferred (preferably in Education, Child Development or related area).
Skills/Experience:
- Minimum of 18 years of age and a desire to work with youth (3-4 years experience working with children preferred). Must have experience in curriculum development and knowledge of youth development theories and practices of adolescent growth and development. Supervision of 10-15 part-time employees and youth Activities, with the ability to interpret program objectives to members and participants. Good communication and public relation skills. Ability to maintain confidentiality regarding personal information on youth, family and YMCA staff. Must maintain current certifications in First Aid, Safety and Risk Management, Child Abuse Prevention and New Employee Orientation or the ability to obtain within 90 days of employment. Administrative skills, including recordkeeping, statistical reporting and maintenance of department and branch-specific paperwork.
Compensation/Benefits:
Hourly: $12.54 - $15.19
