Heart of the Valley YMCA seeks an individual who is passionate about working with children to join our Early Childhood Development Center.

Under the supervision of the Child Care Services Director and in conjunction with other staff directors, the Downtown Child Development Center Director provides leadership and support to all aspects of child care programs and related functions.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Communicate and promote the YMCA mission, goals and objectives to employees, volunteers and the community at large.
  • Promote a safe and positive atmosphere during scheduled working hours.
  • Identifies and resolves problem areas to ensure member and participant satisfaction.
  • Directs and implements a Child Development Program, complying with all Association standards.
  • Hires, trains, evaluates and supervises staff for Preschool program.
  • Develop, manage and monitor Preschool Budget. Assess and recommend budgeting for facility and equipment needs.
  • Maintain accurate records and reports.
  • Ensure that preschool areas, equipment and supplies are maintained in an orderly and safe manner.
  • Implement education curriculum to ensure age appropriate skill development for all preschool attendees.
  • Ensure proper documentation and follow through with Department of Human Resources, Childcare Management Association and Department of Education.
  • Represent YMCA Child Development at various meetings as assigned.
  • Responsible for any other duties as assigned by the Child Care Services Director.
Educational Background: 
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Willingness to carry out the mission of the YMCA and its programs.
  • Ability to see that all business and safety records and procedures set up by the Association are completed and accurately within the defined time schedule.
  • Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to maintain all personal certifications needed to serve in this position.
  • Ability to interpret, as well as, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
  • Ability to work independently and utilize initiative, ability to be organized and to meet deadlines.
  • Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
  • Work to continue personal competency through education, outside literature, seminars, etc.
  • Demonstrated record of individual development.
  • Must meet DHR minimum requirements for Director position.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Word, Excel and Y-Ware.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $30,000.00 - $35,000.00
