Heart of the Valley YMCA is seeking an experienced, energetic and passionate individual to manage property and facility maintenance.

The Facility Maintenance Director will be responsible for all aspects of facility management for the SE Branch as well as the Southeast Early Childhood Education Center and the Downtown Express branch located in Huntsville, AL. The incumbent will also provide leadership to the overall operation of mechanical, housekeeping and safety systems, including preventive and routine maintenance, fire safety, security and pool operating systems.

Principal duties include:

  • Provide overall coordination of facility maintenance, including planning and developing preventive maintenance,
  • Ensure proper operation of all mechanical systems,
  • Complete repair work and projects in a timely manner. Oversee all contractors that work in the facillity and grounds. May request and review bids, and recommend selection of contractors.
  • Work with outside agencies such as fire, health, building departments to ensure compliance with all local, state and federal regulations related to facilities and grounds.
  • Develop budgets supporting the preventive and annual maintenance plans and monitor expenditures against budget.
  • Recruit, hire, train, develop, schedule and direct assigned staff and volunteers. Review and evaluate performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. 
  • Model relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Participate with other members of management in the YMCA's fundraising compaign.
  • Advise management on maintenance issues and projects as requested.
  • Actively participate in Safety Committee and act as Safety Manager of assigned facilities.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the YMCA District Executive Director or/and CEO.
Areas of Responsibility: 

Responsible for all aspects of facility management.

Skills/Experience: 
  • 3 + years of experience with extensive facility maintenance to include HVAC, plumbing, electrical, and mechanical systems,
  • Bachelor's Degree and relevant certifications preferred,
  • Be at least 21 years of age,
  • Ability to diagnose, repair mechanical issues and maintain a wide range of systems,
  • Must be able to receive and maintain CPR and First Aid certifications.
