The Office Coordinator will be a critical member of the Audubon Vermont team, which works to protect birds, other wildlife and their habitats by engaging people of all ages in education, conservation, stewardship and action. They will contribute to the execution of a range of projects related to ensuring smooth and efficient office operations. Responsibilities will include a combination of office- management support tasks including welcoming the public, administrative tasks for the executive director and center director, assisting with the preparation of communications materials, and events planning. The successful candidate will be a team player with excellent communication skills and a commitment to Audubon’s conservation mission.

This position is part-time, 20 hours/week, ideally Monday-Friday 8am-12pm, but can be flexible on the hours for the right candidate. The position is based at the Green Mountain Audubon Center in Huntington. Must be able to work occasionally on evenings and weekends. This position includes limited benefits. Salary based on experience.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support daily office operations including answering phones and responding to the public email box, greeting visitors, and maintaining office supplies and equipment;
  • Maintain orderly, welcoming common areas in the office;
  • Provide administrative support to the Executive Director and Center Director including calendaring, tracking and entering fundraising and budget data; preparing and updating vendor contracts, and assisting with logistics and organization of materials for board, staff and other meetings; 
  • Assist in the planning and operations of events conducted by Audubon, including but not limited to, Sugar on Snow Parties and the annual Audubon Photography Awards show; 
  • Contribute to Audubon Vermont’s communications and marketing plan through the routine maintenance of Audubon Vermont’s website and social media platforms, and assistance with periodic communications to Audubon members in Vermont;
  • Assist with the recruitment and management of Center volunteers including helping to plan fall and spring volunteer workdays; 
  • Develop an understanding for the ecology and natural history of the Green Mountain Audubon Center.
Educational Background: 
Associates degree, B.A. or B.S. in marketing/communications, or other relevant discipline preferred; experience will be considered in lieu of education.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Two years of administrative experience preferred.
  • Exceptional communications skills including oral, written, and editing.
  • Ability to prioritize and work on multiple tasks to meet deadlines.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel required.
  • Experience working in Salesforce is preferred.
  • Excellent graphic design sense and working knowledge of social media platforms including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
  • Familiarity with web content management systems, web analytics, and site marketing preferred.
  • Self-motivated, able to take initiative, be highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Ability to problem solve and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Ability to lift at least 40 pounds with or without accommodation.
  • Must enjoy working with people and have a sense of humor.
