The YMCA at Huntington is seeking an Assistant Early Childhood Director who, under the direction of the Early Childhood Director, will be responsible to assist in the overall daily operations of the Preschool and serve a leadership role in the summer Kiddie Camp program. The Assistant Director must assist the Early Childhood Director in maintaining licensing status through the NYS OCFS. The Assistant Director will promote a continuity between Preschool and Summer Camp in its curriculum, health and general feel.

Areas of Responsibility: 

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.   <!--[endif]-->Ensures high quality programs and establishes quality program activities. Expands program within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans. 

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.   <!--[endif]-->Assist in the recruitment, hiring, training, developing, scheduling and directing personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance as well as develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals with Child Care Director.

3.   Assist in developing, managing and controlling budget outcomes for the Child Care department. Ensures program operates within budget guidelines. 

<!--[if !supportLists]-->4.   <!--[endif]-->Kiddie Camp Director in the summer months.  Responsible for program planning, staff recruitment/training, day to day operations and evaluation.  

<!--[if !supportLists]-->5.   <!--[endif]-->Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed. 

<!--[if !supportLists]-->6.   <!--[endif]-->Assist in the education, health, welfare and safety of all involved in child care programs. 

<!--[if !supportLists]-->7.   <!--[endif]-->Develops and maintains relationships with state child care licensing agency, school administration, parent groups and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs. 

<!--[if !supportLists]-->8.  Responsible for record-keeping and administration for all child care services.  Maintains proper records/department files.  

<!--[if !supportLists]-->9.  Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and attend special events when required.

Participates in Program Committee and Board of Managers meetings as recommended.  Participate in Island and Facility Wide YMCA events (ie. Child Care Committee, Camp Cabinet, Marketing, etc.) 

10. Assume weeknight and weekend Director on Duty (DOD) Coverage required as needed.

11. Perform additional duties as deemed necessary by the Child Care and Executive Director.  

Skills/Experience: 

<!--[if !supportLists]-->1.    <!--[endif]-->Bachelor’s Degree in Early Childhood Education or a related field, or a Child Development Associate Credential.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->2.    <!--[endif]-->A minimum of 2 years of experience in an Early Childhood setting.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->3.    <!--[endif]-->Current Certifications in CPR and First Aid required.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->4.    <!--[endif]-->Strong written and verbal communication skills.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->5.    <!--[endif]-->Ability to supervise, mentor, and evaluate staff.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->6.    <!--[endif]-->Excellent computer skills and experience with standard business software.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->7.    <!--[endif]-->Demonstrated commitment to mission driven programming and customer service.

<!--[if !supportLists]-->8.    <!--[endif]-->Ability to articulate the YMCA mission and programs to staff, volunteer, and community.
