The Director of Development reports to the Executive Director and provides leadership and strategic direction to all aspects of revenue generation for the Chapter through a highly integrated development program that includes special events, individual, corporate, foundation support, and planned giving.
This position is based in Hudson, OH and requires extensive (mostly same day), travel throughout the Chapter's service area.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Establish and implement planning timelines, revenue goals, expense budgets, and engagement strategies to achieve ambitious annual revenue growth goals.
  • Recruit, train, supervise and evaluate the work of Development staff.
  • Ensure a full-mission approach to working with all members of the chapter team to reach common goals.
  • Cultivate and nurture relationships with current and potential corporate, foundation sponsors and individual donors.
  • Ensure the effective implementation of mass market events, donor relationship events and corporate partnerships.
  • Identify and secure funding from foundations and related community resources.
  • Actively participate in the chapters senior management team to ensure effective integration of strategic directions throughout the organization.
  • Utilizes and ensures compliance with National special events materials, guidelines, event models, events production, assessment tools, and online fundraising.
  • Collaborates with Volunteer Coordinator to identify and recruit an effective volunteer recruitment strategy for Chapter events.
  • Manages the cultivation and stewardship of all event guests, participants, volunteers, donors, and sponsors to strengthen connections to the organization and increase constituent involvement and multi-channel giving.
  • Manages all day-of event logistics and year-long event administration, data entry, acknowledgments, and materials management related to development, national sponsorship, and corporate engagement.
  • Manages online fundraising websites for all special events.
  • Manage the development database system ensuring accurate and timely data entry and retrieval and provide reports of activity as needed.
  • Advocates for those we serve and the services offered by the Chapter, provides information for partners in the community on the programs and services we provide, supports and participates in formal advocacy and public policy activities as requested.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree
Skills/Experience: 
  • 5+ years of experience in fund development, with specific fundraising event planning and management for a non-profit organization, is strongly preferred
  • Excellent public speaking skills to confidently and professionally represent the organization
  • Excellent verbal/written communication skills. 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to build teams and work effectively with diverse populations
  • Interest in and/or willingness to develop working knowledge about Alzheimer's disease and its impact on diagnosed individuals, families, and caregivers
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office and Google Apps
  • Ability to analyze information and make timely, appropriate decisions
  • Flexibility and adaptability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team
  • High level of integrity, diplomacy, confidentiality and initiative
  • Excellent organizational and time management skills to manage multiple priorities and deadlines
  • Excellent problem solving and strategic thinking skills
  • Ability to travel locally and regionally as needed to perform job duties
  • Valid Ohio driver's license and proof of insurance, and access to dependable automobile
