Provide oversight, operational guidance and strategic support to Association Membership and Programs. Develop and execute association wide program strategy to align with our strategic initiatives.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Provides strategic leadership and direction for Membership, Youth Sports, Aquatics, Healthy Living, Out of School Time, Active Older Adults and Informal Education.
  • Ensures the operational growth of the YMCA through program expansion, member recruitment and retention, pricing strategies, new site development, and collaborations.
  • Identifies potential areas for cooperative programming to accomplish YMCA goals, and works with staff groups to develop and implement programs. Guides staff in the planning, development and implementation of new program initiatives and activities.
  • Implements and oversees a program evaluation system to guarantee faithfulness to YMCA purpose, high quality and maintenance of YMCA standards.
  • Partners with Association Marketing team on determining Association marketing strategies.
  • Provides direction to assigned staff in the performance of their duties, establishing work priorities, achieving strategic and operating plan goals; prepares and manages associated budgets.
  • Identifies, develops and coaches future leadership staff.
  • Coordinate and manage collaborative relationships and community partnerships.
  • Represent the Y at the local, state and national level within the Y and outside of the Y.
  • Serves as primary staff to Youth Development Committee. Develops strategies to increase volunteer involvement at all levels.
  • Provides reports to committees, the Board of Directors and the President/CEO
  • Supervisory Responsibilities - Directly supervises exempt level staff.  Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; reviewing and approving timesheets; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; monitoring and updating all required staff certifications; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in human services, social services, business or equivalent. Master degree preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Ten or more years of management experience, preferably in multiple YMCA program areas or other not-for-profit agency.
  • Ability to direct through volunteer development, supervision of staff, marketing and public relations, and program development.
  • Experience in management and development of volunteer involvement; ability to recruit top community leaders.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA certification preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications may be required
  • Language Skills - Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.  Ability to write routine reports and correspondence.  Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of organization.
  • Computer Literacy - Skills are essential in all of the Microsoft Office applications including Word, Excel, and Access.  Ability to use these programs to lighten work load, develop reports and to automate procedures is very necessary.  Ability to diagnose basic PC problems and to communicate those problems is very important.
  • Mathematical Skills - Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.  Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Reasoning Ability - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.  Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $140,000.00 - $170,000.00
