The Summer Resident Camp Director will coordinate the camp programs which include, but not limited to, aquatics, arts, sciences, sports, and camper services.  Must have the knowledge of ropes, ranges, and equestrian.

Develops, organizes and implements high quality YMCA Camp Cullen programs with a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Manages, directs and coordinates the YMCA Camp Cullen Summer Resident Camp. Ensures high quality programs and establishes new program activities.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Develops, manages and controls budgets related to the position. Ensures program operates within budget and that program fees are collected.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations as they relate to program areas. Ensures that YMCA program standards are met and safety procedures followed.
  • Work with the Senior Program Director along with other Directors at camp to obtain knowledge of all facets of camp programming and unstructured programming.
  • Provides for upkeep of assigned program facilities and equipment.
  • Develops and maintains relationships with state licensing agencies and other organizations and agencies related to assigned programs.
  • Provides staff leadership for annual fund raising campaign and committees as assigned.
  • Maintains proper records/department files.
  • Organizes special events for parents. Assists in YMCA fund raising activities.
  • Assists with Program Committee meetings.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Compiles program statistics. Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in program.
  • Reports suspicious and inappropriate behaviors and policy violations.
  • Follows mandated abuse and incident reporting requirements.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three to Five years related experience preferred, as a coordinator or supervisor of day or overnight camp programs.
  • Minimum age requirements may apply; for example, minimum age of 25, per American Camp Association.
  • Typical requirements within 30 days of hire include completion of: Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; Working with Program Volunteers; CPR; First Aid; AED; Bloodborne Pathogens.

Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $52,000.00 - $58,000.00

Additional Information: 

Flexible with scheduling and available to work operational hours of the YMCA, which may include day, evening, weekends, and/or holidays, based on camp needs.
