Responsible for the writing and overseeing the YMCA’s grant application and management process.  Lead efforts to identify new funding opportunities to increase the YMCA’s visibility and improve its ability to secure grant funds.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Develop and write grant applications and grant materials, proposals, case statements, conceptual plans, letters of inquiry, acknowledgement letters, stewardship reports and other foundation communication.
  • Research and analyze information and data for proposal development.
  • Prepare customized proposals according to each foundation’s guidelines.
  • Prepare attachments and other collateral materials for proposals.
  • Maintain communication with appropriate staff and departments on required reports and documentation to ensure successful proposals.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive annual calendar to include proposal timing, tracking, follow up, stewardship, recurring requests, etc.
  • Capture all relevant prospect and donor activity in the database.
  • Collaborate with gift officers to ensure the Y presents a compelling need around our case to donors which results in obtaining grant funding.
  • Cultivate and maintain relationships with partner organizations to create joint funding requests where and when applicable.
  • Oversee the grant process to ensure compliance with Association and funder guidelines.
  • Coordinate United Way efforts and ensure proposals meet Association standards.
  • Coordinate and administer post-award activities for all sponsored projects.
  • Research and identify new grant opportunities to develop additional funding resources.
  • Develop forms, processes and procedures and policies for implementing a consistent grant application methodology.
  • Assist Y staff with drafting smaller value proposals.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three or more years related experience in grant writing, fund raising, nonprofit or other related field.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook and Internet Explorer.
  • Minimum age of 21 years.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
  • Previous experience with diverse populations.
  • Strong organizational, planning, project management, time management and problem resolution skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication and member service skills.
  • Attention to detail, accuracy, and thoroughness.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $55,000.00 - $65,000.00
