The D. Bradley McWilliams YMCA at Cypress Creek is seeking a dynamic, cause-driven leader to oversee our Health and Wellness Department. The McWilliams YMCA was devastated by Hurricane Harvey and the facility is currently being redesigned and rebuilt as a state of the art facility. The facility will include a large wellness area, functional fitness space, dedicated cycle studio, mind/body studio, group exercise rooms, 2 pools, large child-watch program area, child care building and many acres of fields, trails, ropes courses and an outdoor pavilion.

The Healthy Living Director will have the ability to innovate and create high quality programs that drive membership growth. The Director will rebuild the personal training program, focus on member engagement and retention, develop youth/family exercise options, and create a welcoming wellness floor environment.  During our peak times of the year we have over 5,500 membership units which equates to over 16,000 members with opportunity for growth with the new facility and upgraded fitness options.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsible for the day to day operations of the Healthy Living Department including personal/group training, group exercise, communcity health, Smart Start and the Wellness Floor. This position will also work with the Member Services Director to develop strategies to increase member retention and engagement. 
  • Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote program and membership growth for the YMCA. Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or program participants connect with one another and connect with the YMCA.
  • Director supervision of all health and wellness programs including group exercise, small group training, personal training, chronic disease prevention and wellness floor.
  • Develops and controls department budgets related to the position.
  • Hires, trains, and supervises staff including Group Exercise Instructors, Wellness Floor staff and Personal Trainers.Facilitates communication and provides leadership.
  • Ensures staff maintain current certifications.
  • Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in healthy living programs. Develops Group Exercise schedules to ensure member needs and are met.
  • Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees/boards as assigned. Develops and maintains effective working relationships within the community.
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Ensures high quality programs through innovative program development.
  • Coordinates special events and activities.
  • Provides data and reports as required for assigned programs.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in health, nutrition, exercise science or related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Four or more years of program management experience, preferably in a YMCA or other not-for-profit agency.
  • Ability to direct programs through supervision of volunteers and staff, development and monitoring of budgets, marketing and public relations, program development and fund-raising.
  • Prefer knowledge of, and previous experience with, diverse populations.
  • Ability to establish and maintain collaborations with community organizations.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • Certifications in Group Exercise and/or Personal Training preferred.
  • CPR and First Aid certifications required.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $48,000.00 - $52,000.00
