The Hopkinsville-Christian County YMCA “Y” promotes healthy living, youth development and social responsibility in the Christian County community by welcoming families of all backgrounds, incomes, and cultures. The incoming CEO must possess strong business acumen as required to oversee an organization that serves more than 7,000 individuals each year, an operational budget of approximately $2 million, 64 permanent employees (5 full- time/59 part-time) and 50-70 part-time seasonal (summer) employees. Just as importantly, the CEO is expected to possess strong communications and interpersonal skills to be an advocate for the mission, goals, and values of the YMCA within the community. Develop and cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, while always upholding the highest standards of the values of the Y. Prior leadership experience managing and leading staff is a critical criteria as well; delegating, evaluating, developing and role modeling.
The ideal candidate will embody and establish a culture of inclusion, integrity, character, and service within the YMCA organization that reinforces, encourages, and promotes the values of honesty, respect, responsibility, and caring. Ensure that every community member that interacts with the YMCA is left with a sense of belonging. The next leader must be able to inspire and mobilize every community member and staff member, board volunteer, and Y member to make the communities stronger.
Within the first year the CEO must set forth a clear vision and strategic initiative in the staff structure that allows for delivery of high quality programs and services, a comprehensive training and development program for staff; that will cultivate relationships with members and stake holders in the community, create a sense of unity in within the Y, create new and innovative programs for the community. These relationships will be the driving force behind the continued growth and impact of the organization. The CEO is expected to be highly visible in the community, ensuring that the Y remain a highly respected and desired partner with a strong stake in identifying and addressing the solutions for community issues. Must also set strategic partnerships to move the Y forward through mission impacting programs and services. Candidates must be able to implement and direct fundraising programs and practices that assure that public and private resources are available to support operational and capital/renovation needs.

- Experience in assembling, empower and developing a successful board volunteers and community leaders.
- Ability to address the needs in the community through engagement, keeping an eye on trends and changing membership needs.
- Must demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills and personal values consistent with the YMCA mission.
- Minimum five years’ prior experience in a senior management role with a YMCA or related experience at a comparable organization with direct supervision of multiple levels of staff and employees.
- Must have the ability to develop and strengthen community relationships.
- Have the ability to develop new programs, review and enhance programs being offered or considered for both economy and the effectiveness in broadening our engagement in the communities in which we serve.
Preferred Criteria for Candidates:
- YMCA Organizational Leader Certification.
- Fiscally sound business management approach.
- Strategic planning and fundraising experience including annual campaign,capital campaign and the securing of grants.
- A proven track record of budgetary and fiscal management.
Salary: $75,000.00 - $90,000.00
