To oversee the daily operations of the Wellness facility (which includes all Health & Wellness programs, Healthy Lifestyles & Chronic Disease Prevention initiatives, Group Exercise classes {land and water}, equipment maintenance & care of facilities, and personal & group training program). To build relationships with members and retain them through programs, services, and/or clubs. Provide a seamless transition for new members from the point of enrollment to working with a trainer or participating in a class. Develop staff that are member retention oriented and have the ability to connect members to the Y as well as to other members. Works closely with the Membership Director in meeting the needs of members and the community through new program development and member retention strategies. Works under the general supervision of the Branch Executive Director.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Meets the needs of members and the community through developing, marketing, and implementing new and existing health and fitness programs, seminars, and lectures.
  • Ensures the strategic goals of the Association/Branch are met by developing and promoting strong family and social values, leadership, healthy lifestyles, sense of community, international/intercultural relations, and an appreciation for environmental concerns.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in Exercise Science or related field preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • Must be able to walk into a room and enjoy the challenge of meeting new people
  • Have the reputation of being a “social butterfly” and ability to quickly build meaningful relationships with many members at a time
  • Strong customer service and interpersonal skills, well organized and multi-tasked oriented
  • Knowledge of general health and wellness
  • Knowledge of designing, conducting, and implementing safe and effective group exercise classes/member workout programs/fitness programs
  • Understanding and ability to teach members and train staff on techniques and proper procedures for safe and productive exercise
  • Understanding and ability to teach several different group exercise class formats and train staff on techniques and proper procedures for safe and productive classes
  • Ability to recruit and develop staff that will build relationships with members and connect members to the Y and to other members
  • Requires understanding of human development, group work process and general management and communications as well as perform the full range of supervisory duties
  • Knowledge of program fiscal management, ability to keep programs on budget and launch contingency plans when required
  • Computer literate, proficient in Work and Excel programs. Publisher, Adobe, Photoshop and Power Point preferred.  Ability to operate the CLASS software program.
  • Ability to report to work as required at all operational hours of the facility Monday – Sunday and some holidays

Education/Training:

  • Certification(s) in Group Exercise preferred
  • CPR/AED, First Aide certified required
  • TB-clearance required

Experience:

  • Two (2) years minimum experience in program planning and supervising of staff and volunteers
  • Two (2) years minimum experience working in health and fitness or related human service programs and/or committees, and experience in organizing and conducting meetings and staff trainings preferred
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $35,526.00
