The YMCA of South Florida is looking for an experienced professional to join our Homestead YMCA Family Center Team as Senior Membership Director. Under the direction of the Executive Director, the Senior Membership Director is responsible for the development, analysis, and implementation of the Homestead YMCA and YMCA of South Florida ongoing membership strategies and activities both internal and external. The position provides direction, measurement and accountability to membership sales and unit growth, membership retention, and member satisfaction. Responsibilities include achieving sales targets by creating measurable systems, prospect follow up, booking appointments, giving tours and actively selling memberships according to the Y’s sales guidelines and protocols. Position is also responsible for other center program areas (Wellness and Group Exercise) in development of member-centered programs and provides a leadership role in the annual fundraising campaign. Position will identify marketplace opportunities, prospects and engage new partners, and develop partnership proposals. Position will perform, lead and train to the sales and service standards providing sales leadership and service excellence. The incumbent ensures success by managing the day-to-day department’s system and oversees the membership and assigned program areas’ database operating within established business operations procedures.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Meet / Exceed annual budgeted targets and goals for new member acquisition.
  • Develop membership acquisition and engagement plans to ensure achievement of organizations goals. (Annual, Quarterly, Monthly)
  • Track and report productivity including prospect work, membership inquiries (by telephone and in person), appointments for tours and closing ratios. Submit monthly report as required.
  • Develop the Membership staff on core membership functions such as lead generation, prospect management, customer service, campaign development, and new staff orientation / onboarding.
  • Monitor membership analytics to include trend analysis and assure corrective action plans are in place to avert any downward trends.
  • Work closely with Family Center Executive to evaluate, recruit and select (hire) membership and assigned program area staff.
  • Creates a member-focused culture and models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Stay informed of the latest industry trends and developments (digital and social media, trade magazines, journals, competition).
  • Identify community opportunities for brand awareness, exposure and prospecting.
  • Provide support to recruitment, training, development and evaluation of membership and assigned program area staff, ensuring staff members are qualified and positioned to deliver a high level of engagement toward conversion, program delivery and quality programming.
  • Develop and strengthen YMCA healthy living initiatives by working within the Greater Homestead community with major corporations, businesses and organizations to position the YMCA as the expert in health/wellness resulting in increased sales.
  • Ensure that the prospective member experience is based on hospitality, by establishing systems and monitoring adherence to membership policies, procedures, standards, program quality and best practices.
  • Implement a monthly sales traffic report to identify your top sales persons and reward their results.
  • Routinely solicit feedback from staff on potential markets and ideas for future promotions/campaigns.Assist in the creative packaging of programs/events to ensure effective promotion.
  • Attend trainings, seminars and conferences related to membership acquisition/engagement.
  • Uphold all Association policies, guidelines and protocols and be a professional at all times when interacting with staff, volunteers, members, business professionals and community leaders.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s Degree, or experience in related field.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum of 5 years of customer service or sales experience.
  • Minimum of 2 years of health and wellness related program experience.
  • Minimum 2 years of experience and proven experience in leading a team and staff supervision
  • Ability to address difficult member situations/conflicts in a professional and courtesy manner.
  • Ability to work independently, and as part of a team.
  • Ability to multi task and meet deadlines in a fast pace environment.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Must have good interpersonal, public relations and communications skills, including the ability to make oral presentations
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software i.e. Microsoft Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
  • Must be able to work flexible hours including evenings, weekends, and holidays
  • Ability to respond to safety and emergency situations
  • Bi-lingual, English and Spanish language, a plus.

Certificates and Licenses:

  • CPR/First Aid and AED certified within 90 days of employment
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00 - $65,000.00
