Develop and manage a variety of aquatic, camp, youth and community programs that are responsive to member needs. Provide leadership to the management of aquatics, camp, youth and teen programs. Participate in the cultivation and development of relationships that build member, staff and volunteer involvement. Participate in fund raising through annual support, special events and third party sources. Identify opportunities for programs that meet financial and service objectives. Cultivate relationships with community leaders to ensure program effectiveness. Administer program budget, materials, communication, marketing and promotion.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Recruit, train, schedule, supervise, develop and track certifications of staff to deliver high quality programs and services that respond to member needs.
- Oversee the day to day operations of all family, arts and humanities, youth and adult sports, camp, teen, special needs and aquatic programming including staffing, ordering and maintenance of equipment, cleanliness and cleaning schedules, and inventory management.
- Manage the development, promotion and delivery of high quality programs that are responsive to member needs.
- Produce an annual budget that is aggressive but attainable. Maintain your programs within this budget.
- Manage and develop programs that are specific to the community and age appropriate including but not limited to Healthy Kids Day, sports programs, arts and humanities, movement classes, day camp, aquatics and teen programming, etc.
- Be prepared to teach all classes in your area of responsibility and support staff in providing high quality programming and classes.
- Conduct staff meetings, with each program area, either monthly or every session.
Educational Background:
Bachelor of Science Degree in Physical Education, Recreation, or related field,
Skills/Experience:
- 2-4 years practical experience in aquatics, sports and/or health and fitness related position, or have a comparable level of expertise, CPR Pro Rescuer, First Aid and Oxygen certification.
- Obtain Y-USA current national certifications in family programming.
- Physical ability to lift 50 pounds, participate in youth and adult sports, arts and humanities programs, etc.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills, ability to relay instructions in a clear and precise manner, and ability to relate to a diverse age and cultural membership.
- Demonstrated supervisory experience, fiscal management experience and proven ability to manage successful programs.
