The Greater Philadelphia YMCA is seeking a dynamic leader for its executive director position available at the Haverford Area YMCA!

Provide leadership to assigned branch operations and ensure that programs and services meet community needs. Develop and cultivate relationships with community leaders to develop and plan strategies for funding and delivering community-responsive programs and services. Build board and committees to bring staff and volunteers together to attain the mission. Manage the financial position to ensure effective utilization of resources, financial development and other income to ensure prudent fiscal management.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Promote and represent the mission and values of the YMCA. Participate as a member of the association staff team and contribute to a consistent YMCA image.
  • Build community resources through the cultivation and development of relationships. Actively engage members, volunteers and community leaders in the Y mission.
  • Implement effective fundraising strategies to attain objectives. Build volunteer and community resources and support to the YMCA.
  • Manage fiscal operations and ensure attainment of budgetary objectives.
  • Manage facility and ensure proper preventative maintenance. Ensure that facility is maintained to provide positive image and member experience at all times.
  • Create a member focus in all operations. Ensure that all programs represent high-quality YMCA programs and provide experiences that exceed member expectations. Ensure continuing education and training of staff to ensure continuous improvement.
  • Create a positive staff environment where diverse staff members can work together to provide programs and services. Develop and recognize staff to ensure continuous improvement.

  • Demonstrate responsible and ethical behavior and carry out duties with integrity. Inspire and motivate others and value diverse perspectives.
  • Manage the activities and personnel in the development and delivery of programs and services. Monitor trends and developments in legislation, funding, markets, demographics and community needs to ensure that branch continues to deliver cost-effective programs.
  • Manage all financial record keep, trends and reporting. Analyze trends and determine cost-effectiveness of programs and services. Ensure prudent fiscal management of all resources and adherence to policies and procedures.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in related field with 5-10 years of related experience.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Demonstrated success in annual support and fundraising.
  • Leadership experience in branch operations required.
  • Experience in developing and motivating volunteer staff
