The Hanover Area YMCA is searching for the right person to grow our membership and engage with members and non-members in our neighborhood. You will be able to share your cause and encourage members to participate in programs and activities to help them live a healthy lifestyle.

The Membership Development Director manages all aspects of the membership department, including supervising our experienced customer service representatives at 3 branches. You will develop, plan and implement new procedures and methods to achieve strategic goals in membership; including sales and retention strategies.

This position creates and manages the annual budget for the membership department.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • The Membership Development Director implements strategies that support recruitment of new members and retention of existing members.
  • This position is responsible for building relationships with members, responding to inquiries and solving problems.
  • You will work with association leadership to identify and implement training to enhance sales and retention skills and strategies for membership and staff.
  • Analyze market data to develop, recommend and implement a strategic sales plan for membership which meets established association goals.
  • Recruits, trains, coaches and supervises membership team members.
  • Creates staff schedules, approves time cards, does performance reviews.
  • Creates and manages the operating budget for the membership department.
  • Collaborates with program directors to promote their programs and activities.
  • Organizes membership events and represents the Y at community events.
  • Serves as part of the management team.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field preferred
Skills/Experience: 
  • 2 years of supervisory customer service experience required
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community
  • Superior customer service skills
  • Dynamic leader with an engaging personality

  • PA State Police Clearance
  • PA Child Abuse History Report
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $45,000.00
