The Healthy Living Director will provide premiere membership experience, value, service, and retention programs by planning, budgeting, promoting and implementing all Healthy living programs.  The Healthy Living Director is responsible for leading the budgetary process for their respective department, participating in committees, major event campaigns, staff trainings, community outreach events and implementing YMCA best practices for wellness within our 3 core focus areas - youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. 

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Directs and supervises personal training & speed and conditioning programs at association.
  • Designs, monitors, and implements new health and wellness programs and initiatives. 
  • Develops specialty programs for specific demographic groups such as senior citizens, baby boomers, families, etc.
  • Establishes new program activities and expands programs within the community in accordance with strategic and operating plans.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations such as Hanover Hospital, Chamber of Commerce
  • Develops and controls program budget to meet fiscal objectives
  • Assists in YMCA fund raising activities and special events by attending golf tournament, campaign functions, and fundraisers
  • Responds to all member and community inquiries and complaints in a timely manner within 24-48 hours.
  • Creates an overall department marketing plan, with assistance of marketing director
  • Compiles program statistics.  Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of and participation in programs.
  • Participates as an active member of committees as deemed necessary by supervisor.
  • Hires, trains and supervises assigned staff which may include coordinators, instructors, wellness coaches, personal trainers, massage therapists, and specialty instructors.
  • Supervises the daily operation and staffing of the YMCA cardio/weight rooms and Wellness Centers.  Oversees daily maintenance of rooms plus equipment.
  • Purchases equipment, parts and supplies as required. Develops an annual equipment replacement and new purchase plan.
  • Coordinates and schedules equipment maintenance and repairs.
  • Works directly with Facility Director to maintain association fitness facilities and equipment. Do walk through with them at all facilities.
  • Visits programs regularly during peak times to ensure high quality and evaluate staff.
  • Acquires and maintains certifications through health & wellness related organizations, the YMCA of the USA, and such on a regular basis.
  • Serves on association management team.
  • Arranges staff meetings with fitness staff every 2 months.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent is necessary
Skills/Experience: 
  • Three years related experience preferred.
  • Minimum age requirement is 21.
  • Requirements within 30 days of hire include: PA State Police Clearance, Child Abuse History Clearance, FBI Fingerprint Clearance, Mandated Reporter Training; CPR; First Aid; AED; Blood borne Pathogen training.
  • Completion of YMCA program-specific certifications.

Salary: $50,000.00
