The Hanover Area YMCA is seeking a kid friendly, energetic, positive team leader to strengthen our child care programs.

The child care director is responsible for the overall operation of our early learning center, before and after-school programs, child watch and camp with the help of coordinators. This position develops, organizes and implements high-quality YMCA child care programs. This position is responsible for hiring, supervising and scheduling staff.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Lead and manage daily operations of a licensed childcare facility.
  • Comply with all state and local regulations.
  • Meets all food program requirements.
  • Directly responsible for the day to day safety and well being of all children enrolled in the program.
  • Responsible for annual budget, staff supervision and recruitment, interviewing parents, staff trainings and evaluations, facilitation of in-service trainings.
  • Ensures staff ratios are met.
  • Organizes special events for children and parents.
  • Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's Degree in one of the following: Early Childhood Education (preferred), Child Development, Special Education, Elementary Education or the Human Service field with one year of experience with children.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Knowledge of DHS regulations, Keystone Stars and NAEYC required.
  • Minimum of 3 years of supervisory experience.
  • Ability to communicate with diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community.
  • Must have strong leadership skills.
  • Must have a friendly and positive attitude.
  • PA State Police Clearance
  • CPR/First Aid Certification
  • PA Child Abuse History
  • FBI Fingerprint Clearance
  • Mandated Reporter Training
