Under the supervision of the Center Executive Director and in harmony with the mission and purpose of the established policies and goals of the Peninsula Metropolitan YMCA, the Association Teen Experience Director will be responsible for collaborating with community partners and providing quality programming and a positive member and participant experience for teens. The Association Teen Experience Director will lead the Y-Achievers, Leaders Club, Junior Leaders Club, and 7GI programs at the Hampton YMCA and will give leadership across the Association to Leaders’ and Junior Leaders’ Clubs, Youth & Government, 7-GI, and Y-Achievers.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Support the mission, vision and goals of the YMCA.
  • Promote a professional work environment through character development by modeling the values of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility.
  • Lead in a manner that advances our cause to strengthen the foundations of community through programs that focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility.
  • Develop, organize and implement curriculum and programming for teen programs within the Association.
  • Develop and schedule new offerings in teen program areas for the Association.
  • Develop, organize and oversee curriculum and programming for teen areas at the Hampton Family YMCA.
  • Meet budget goals and operating net for all assigned departments.
  • Develop relationships with area school districts, and community partners and coordinate specialized programming.
  • Prepare statistical, analytical and narrative reports regarding programs and operations of the Association Teen program as needed.
  • Serve on school leadership committees to coordinate the needs of the school and students. 
  • Cultivate relationships with parents and members to improve quality.
  • Attend staff meetings and trainings as scheduled.
  • Act as a leader in emergency situations. Report any accidents or incidents according to Emergency Communication Action Plan.
  • Follow mandated child abuse reporting requirements.
  • Promote and participate in YMCA fundraising efforts to include Annual Support and United Way Campaigns.
  • Ensure all members, guests, and program participants are in a safe environment and actively follow Center Emergency Operations Plan (EOP). 
  • Carry out other related duties as deemed necessary by the Center Executive Director and Center operations to ensure an excellent member experience.
Educational Background: 
A Bachelor’s Degree and/or equivalent experience in related program experience in youth development and teen work.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Minimum age of 21 required.
  • Experience supervising staff is required.
  • Prior experience in planning, organizing, and implementing youth and teen programs.
  • Professionalism; enthusiasm, and drive. 
  • Excellent communication skills both verbal and written. 
  • Must be able to work a varied schedule, including evenings and weekends.
  • Certification in CPR/First Aid/AED/O2 required within 60 days of hire Complete and maintain required trainings to include: New Employee Orientation (NEO), Bloodborne Pathogens, Child Abuse Prevention (CAP), and Sexual Harassment. 
  • Satisfactory completion of a criminal background check and Child Protective Services check.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $47,000.00 - $52,476.00
