Executive Director

Hampton Bays, NY, USA
Full-time

This position includes subsidized housing in Hampton Bays, NY.

We are only considering candidates with a minimum of 10 years of senior-level leadership/management experience.

The Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation (SASF) seeks a strategic and entrepreneurial Executive Director to lead us into the next decade. Our desired candidate is a compelling spokesperson and proven leader with a successful track record in fundraising and managing people, operations, and budgets. You are willing to fight for our mission to provide for the welfare of homeless animals, promoting and nurturing the bond between people and animals through adoption, education, and community outreach. We are proud of our commitment to providing a home to any companion animal, regardless of the animal's circumstances or past. We turn no animal away. Post-pandemic, a record number of animals have been abandoned, and our resources are stretched to the limit. We need a leader who will help us meet this unprecedented demand. We are well-positioned for growth with a solid endowment, a small but engaged board of directors, and a skilled and devoted staff.

About Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation

Located on the East End of Long Island, the Southampton Animal Shelter Foundation is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, open admission, no-kill shelter that relies on the generosity of our donors and volunteers to care for the homeless animals in our community and to place them in loving "forever homes." The shelter provides abandoned animals with housing, food, medical treatment, training, and rehabilitation. For 13 years since the town eliminated the original shelter, we have helped homeless animals in our community of 17 hamlets and 6 incorporated villages that make up the Township of Southampton covering more than 140 sq. miles. We also rescue dogs from "kill shelters" and dire situations across the country. We operate out of a 13,000 square foot facility in Red Creek Park in Hampton Bays. Since 2010, we have provided a veterinary clinic that handles medical evaluations, general care, spay and neuter services, microchipping, and vaccinations. We have one of the best training and behavior departments in the country. Our program socializes, integrates, and enriches the lives of shelter dogs, and it has dramatically increased the rate of adoptability of these dogs.
