Under the direction of the Branch Executive and in accordance with the Christian mission and purpose of the Great Miami Valley (GMV) YMCA Association, the Membership & Aquatics Director is responsible for the administration and direction of all membership and aquatic programming for the branch.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Drives a branch environment that focuses on assisting individuals to identify and achieve their personal goals through building a healthy spirit, mind, and body.
  • Maintains a systematic and effective use of constituent tracking tools (Engagemore and Personify) that enhances the relationship experience for every member.
  • Provides leadership in all interactions and meetings that meet and exceed association membership sales and retention goals. 
  • Develops, implements, and manages operating plans to promote growth and retention for the branch membership and aquatic programs.
  • Executes strategies to ensure that members and/or participants connect with one another and the YMCA.
  • Develops and manages department budgets related to the position.
  • Hires, trains, develop and supervise staff and volunteers in all assigned areas.  Facilitates communication and provides leadership through various media and direct contact to promote teamwork. Models relationship-building skills in all interactions.
  • Provides leadership and support to the annual fundraising campaign and volunteer committees as assigned. 
  • Assures compliance with state and local regulations. Ensures that program and membership standards are met and safety procedures are followed.
  • Coordinates high-quality member-focused programs and events through innovative program development, evaluation, and ongoing staff training. 
  • Administers and coordinates membership and program financial assistance.
  • Oversees all branch rentals, merchandise procurement, sales and inventory.
  • Ensures effective, efficient and excellent interactions and appearance of the Welcome Center and pool areas.
  • Develops and maintains effective working relationships in the community, especially considering collaborative partnerships and fundraising.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree in human services, social services, recreation, business, sales or equivalent preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Four or more years of customer-centric management service experience preferred. 
  • Must have BLS, First Aid, Oxygen, YMCA Lifeguard and Y-Basic Swim Lessons v6 certifications or have willingness to obtain within 90 days of hire.
  • YMCA Team Leader or Multi-team/Branch Leader certification preferred.
  • Must have knowledge of basic swimming strokes and the ability to demonstrate each skill effectively.
  • Moderate knowledge of computers.
  • Ability to instruct and observe participants in proper stroke techniques.
  • Must possess skills in program development and fiscal management.
  • Must have excellent written and verbal communication skills and possess the ability to work with a diverse group of members, program participants, staff, and volunteers.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $33,488.00
