Manage gymnastics instructional programs, YMCA competitive programs, gymnastic meets and special events.
Under the direction of the Branch Executive Director and in accordance with the Christian mission and purpose of the Great Miami Valley (GMV) YMCA Association, the Gymnastics Program Director and Head Coach is responsible for developing, organizing and implementing a high-quality competitive and a progressive recreational gymnastic program.
Areas of Responsibility:
- Manages gymnastics instructional programs, YMCA competitive programs, gymnastic meets and special events which include organizing any related instructional class schedules for the year; organizes and hosts season parties and events, promoting healthy eating and good nutrition.
- Interviews, hires, trains and supervise gymnastic coordinators, instructors, team coaches and Gymnastics Camp/Clinic counselors.
- Assists in the marketing and distribution of program information, may organize and schedule program registrations.
- Plans physical education and/or gymnastic recreational programs for YMCA members and community participants including the coordination of gymnastics, tumbling, cheerleading or related clinics and/or programs.
- Adheres to all safety regulations and reports all incidents and safety issues to the appropriate GMV YMCA staff member.
- Creates teams from paid and financially assisted registrations.
- Organizes and facilitates meetings and training for parents and coaches.
- Develops, distributes, and enforces all policies, guidelines and handbooks to parents, coaches, instructors, and program participants.
- Compiles all program statistics and necessary reports.
- Monitors and evaluates the effectiveness of, and participation in, all gymnastic programs.
- Demonstrates to coaches and program participants the proper skills and spotting techniques.
- Manages program budgets according to guidelines set by the Great Miami Valley YMCA.
- Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with community organizations.
- Responds to all related member, participant, and community inquiries and complaints in timely manner.
- Assists in YMCA fundraising activities and special events including the Annual Support Campaign.
- Participates in and assists with Branch Advisory Board and/or Committee meetings as needed.
Educational Background:
Bachelor's degree preferred or equivalent experience related field.
Skills/Experience:
- A minimum of three years related experience in competitive and instructional gymnastics.
- Certifications:Must have the following certification or have willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire - a.Child Abuse Prevention for Supervisory Staff; b.Working with Program Volunteers; c.CPR, First Aid, and AED; and d. Bloodborne Pathogens.
- Must be at least 21 years of age.
- Must have willingness to complete YMCA program-specific certifications. Also, USA Gymnastics SafeSport, Safety Certification, and USA Gymnastics Professional Membership may be required.
- Must have ability to effectively and safely spot and/or demonstrate skills and proper spotting techniques
