The Development Program Specialist I is part of the development/fundraising team in the Idaho Chapter. The position will be responsible for providing data management, donor research, gift processing, prospect tracking, donor stewardship, team administrative support and may assist with event planning. This position is heavily detail-oriented and requires daily in-depth use of a donor constituent data base.
This position will help manage the fundraising process for the Idaho Chapter to assure timely donor relations, database management and tracking of current and potential donors. Lead process of researching and prioritizing potential donors. Organizes and leads team meetings to assure timely donor engagements, follow-up, data entry and tracking of team activity and progress towards goals. Manage donation processing and assists development team as needed, especially the Director of Development. This position uses a donor constituent database to produce reports, perform analysis, prepare mailing lists, and track donor interactions. Keeps development staff informed of all major gift activities in the state. Tracks pledges and funds raised towards fundraising goals. Interacts and coordinates with Worldwide Office (WO). Serves as liaison to WO on strategies or questions related to centralized renewals, membership issues, major donor projections, stock gifts, planned gifts and goal setting. The Specialist I must maintain advanced skills with the systems and resources utilized by the team. They will adhere to organizational policies and practices and remain informed of changes to those practices. The Specialist I will effectively communicate or distribute information to assist staff in making decisions, solving problems, and improving workflow. Valid Driver’s License.
RESPONSIBILITIES AND SCOPE
- Manage donor database and all details of reports for regular accounting of fundraising process and measures; and mailing lists needed on a regular basis
- Maintain tracking of actual gifts and pledges with the annual chapter budget.
- Organize and maintain contact reporting and donor files.
- Daily coding and processing of gifts and pledges, ensuring accurate designation
- Support development team with reminders for timing of renewals, foundation proposals/reports, acknowledgements and coordination of events/activities.
- Establish strong working relationships with WO staff. Participate in relevant national calls and meetings.
- Assist WO with donor tracking and communications.
- Coordinate projects with several variables, work within a defined timeline and budget.
- Does not supervise any staff, but may supervise interns, volunteers, and/or temporary staff.
- Ensure compliance with TNC policies and procedures, and external (donor/legal/IRS) requirements.
- Provide input through project teams for the improvement of existing programs.
- Refer difficult questions and unusual problems to Director of Development.
- Travel and work flexible hours.
- Work environment involves only infrequent exposure to disagreeable elements and minor physical exertion and/or strain.
- Work is diversified and may not always fall under established practices and guidelines.
- Work within scope of program’s strategic goals.
- Experience with database management and Microsoft excel.
- Experience building relationships with staff, customers or similar.
- Experience generating reports and interpreting data; analytical skills.
- Experience in business writing, editing, and proofreading.
- Experience working across teams.
- Experience, coursework, or other training in principles and practices of relevant field.
- Valid driver’s license.
