Summary: The Director of Programs grows, leads, continually improves and ensures the excellence and reputation of the following programs and personnel:

  • Essentials
  • Electives
  • Extra-Curricular
  • Co-Curricular
  • Licensed Programs: Before and After School, School Break and Summer Camps, Early Childhood*
Areas of Responsibility: 

The essential duties and responsibilities of this position include, but are not limited to, the following:

Program Personnel and Vendors

  • Hire, on-board, coach and evaluate program personnel ensuring excellence in performance.
  • Contract, on-board, coach and evaluate external vendor program partners.
  • Develop a team climate that is aligned with the school’s mission, vision and values as well as strong promotion of the program and communication with clients.

Financial Management

  • Lead Programs annual budgetary review and manage all expenses and revenues related to the program within budgetary parameters.

Essentials and Electives

  • Develop, manage and ensure continuous improvement in Essentials and Elective offerings, scheduling, content, standards, scope and sequence.
  • Ensure academic integration of essentials and electives offerings with core class units of study.

Extra-Curricular

  • Develop, manage, schedule, promote and ensure continuous improvement in a broad offering of Extra Curricular offerings as well as the enrollments in those programs.
  • Support the Athletic Director in the development of robust and broad intra-murals program and the scheduling, promotion and coordination of league competitions and tournaments.

Co-Curricular

  • With Directors of Lower and Middle School, identify, promote and coordinate and expand opportunities for students to participate and excel at state and national level in academic and other educationally related competitions and workshops. (i.e, Geography Bee, Spelling Bee, Additional Examples: http://www.davidsongifted.org/search-database/topic/105293/entrytype/2 as well as National Elementary and Junior Honor Society.
  • With Director of Leadership and Entrepreneurship promote, coordinate and expand student opportunities to participate and lead in programs including but not limited to student government, mentor/mentee programs, etc. as well as the delivery and inculcation of leadership curriculum into our program division’s units of study and ethos.

Licensed Programs

  • Ensure adherence to all license and health and safety regulations governing these programs in conjunction with Aspen Academy’s Colorado Department Human Services licensed director and assistant director.
  • Develop, manage, ensure continuous improvement and develop full enrollment in Before and After School and School Break programs.
  • Develop, manage, ensure continuous improvement and develop full enrollment in self-managed or vendor managed Summer Camps.

Other Responsibilities:

  • Set and achieve ambitious annual continuous improvement goals, quarterly objectives and regular Key Performance Indicators to ensure Aspen Academy’s continued and growing reputation as a unique and model program.
  • Support full and diverse student enrollment and retention.
  • Demonstrate in word and deed a palpable enthusiasm and commitment to Aspen Academy’s mission, vision, values, goals and celebration and development of a diverse and inclusive community.
  • Be an active and vocal expert regarding the impact of the Program Division’s positive impact on our students to our client community and the state and national educational community and consistently achieve excellent client ratings on the program division’s offerings.
  • Identify and develop strategic partnerships that enhance the Program Division’s impact.
  • Effectively marketing, communicate and promote all program courses, programs and events to the internal, external and educational community.  
Educational Background: 
BA required; M.A. preferred
Minimum 5 years education or administration experience (preferably early childhood through middle school)
Skills/Experience: 
  • Proven business, organizational, program, financial, client services and human resources strategic leadership, development and management. 
  • Success in continuous improvement and change management helpful
  • *Note: Candidate is not required to be Early Childhood Director qualified
