The nature center is located in the southwest corner of Connecticut, in the town of Greenwich. The Greenwich Audubon Center has over 15 miles of scenic hiking trails, and includes 650 acres of mixed forest, meadows, wetlands, ponds, and streams. The mission of the National Audubon Society is to conserve and restore natural ecosystems focusing on birds, other wildlife, and their habitats for the benefit of the Earth's biological diversity and humanity. The Greenwich Audubon Center strives to meet this mission through education, conservation and environmental research to encourage the responsible usage and stewardship of natural lands. The Greenwich Audubon Center offers educational programs for all ages, a seasonal newsletter, nature programs, annual Hawk Watch,  live animal exhibits, a children's learning center, a nature store, and a bird viewing area.

The Part-Time Event Assistant will provide high-quality administrative support to the Audubon Greenwich facility rental program. Specifically, s/he will be responsible for providing excellent customer service, supervising event set-up and break-down, resolving any facilities issues as necessary and representing the interests and needs Audubon Greenwich during event rentals. The position is located in Greenwich, CT, reports to the Assistant Center Director and will have irregular hours as needed by the event rental program. The Event Assistant will be required to attend a facility training prior to assisting with events. Events require staff assistance for three to 10 hours, and multiple staff may be needed to provide adequate coverage. Most event rentals occur on Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays and between the hours of 2 pm and 12 am.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Act as the face of Audubon Greenwich, greeting renters, answering questions and triaging requests as needed.
  • Serve as the Center point of contact for facility rentals while renters are on-site:
    • Work closely with senior Center staff and catering contractor for Barn rentals to ensure that renters follow all guidelines and regulations.
    • Respond to all event-related issues as needed.
    • Conduct a walk-through at the beginning and end of an event rental to ensure renter is aware of guidelines and regulations. 
  • Other rental-related duties as requested
Skills/Experience: 
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Exceptional organizational ability, attention to detail and a can-do attitude are essential.
  • Ability to work independently with limited supervision, as well as part of a small team.
  • Critical thinking skills and a problem-solving attitude.
  • Ability to exercise discretion and maintain strict confidentiality.
  • Bilingual in English and Spanish strongly desired.
