TFA-South Carolina is seeking a Manager, Corporate Sponsorships to oversee Teach For America – South Carolina’s (TFA-SC) corporate event and program sponsorship initiatives. This role will be responsible for developing a sales and stewardship strategy to identify and secure corporate partners for new and existing TFA-SC events and programs. This position reports to the Managing Director, Development and works closely with the region’s marketing and operations teams. 

The Manager, Corporate Sponsorships will be responsible for cultivating and managing a portfolio of corporate relationships for TFA-SC. This role will cultivate, solicit, and steward corporate gifts from $2,500 to $25,000 throughout South Carolina. This position will be tasked with securing and overseeing a portfolio of $150,000 in revenue in year one.

Areas of Responsibility: 

The Manager, Corporate Sponsorships will be responsible for: 

Corporate Sponsorships and Fundraising (70%)

  • Secure event sponsorships for fundraising events or programs
  • Develop strategy and stewardship of corporate partners and/or donors
  • Create a portfolio of corporate partner prospects that align with TFA-SC mission, vision, and statewide programing
  • Develop strategy for stewarding corporate prospects and sharing opportunities to support TFA-SC’s work within the education system
  • Work with the Managing Director, Development to appropriately recognize event sponsors
  • Raise approximately $150,000 in revenue in year one through direct solicitation of sponsorships, on-site fundraising at events, and innovative event-based initiatives

Event Planning (10%)

  • Work in conjunction with TFA-SC Event Planning Committee to make sure corporate partners are engaged and recognized appropriately at various event and programming initiatives throughout the year
  • Work in conjunction with TFA-SC Event Planning Committee to set vision and goals for events pertaining to revenue
  • Work in conjunction with TFA-SC Event Planning Committee to oversee programing and event logistics as determined appropriate by committee

South Carolina Regional Responsibilities (20%)

  • Participate in and support Teach For America South Carolina's team-wide responsibilities and events
Educational Background: 
Bachelor’s degree preferred; significant work experience can substitute
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least 3 years’ experience with a proven track record of corporate sponsorship or event fundraising
  • Ability to build a network or new relationships to meet position, team, and organizational goals
  • Excellent communication skills, including writing, proofreading, and speaking
  • Ability to multitask - managing multiple projects and work assignments at one time
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with a high degree of professionalism, both in person and by phone
  • Ability to accomplish projects with little supervision
  • Fantastic customer service ethic and high expectations for quality
  • Deeply committed to Teach For America’s core values, mission, and theory of action
  • We are seeking an individual who excels in relationship-building, thrives in a team environment, is results-oriented, and has strong organizational skills
  • Proficient using the latest versions of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and mail merges
  • Prior experience with Salesforce a plus

Work Demands

  • Willingness to work some weekends and evenings to attend or facilitate external or TFA-SC corps member or regional events
  • Ability to travel by car to in-person meetings in various South Carolina cities regularly
  • Must be a South Carolina resident
