This position supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit, charitable organization committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. The Director of Human Resources, under the direction of the CEO, is responsible for directing and coordinating all Human Resource functions and will provide leadership, direction, plans, and decision-making for the HR department in accordance with the strategic goals of the YMCA of Greenville. Key areas of oversight include, but are not limited to: recruitment, compensation and benefits, staff development, employee relations, employee engagement and retention, policy development and compliance, strategic organizational structuring and staffing, and administrative functions. The HR Director oversees all HR departmental staff and assists the CEO as needed.
- Strategic organizational structuring, recruitment, and staffing
- Support the YMCA of Greenville in being the regional employer of choice
- Forecast organizational staffing needs and infrastructure changes
- Organize, facilitate, and oversee all employment processes and procedures; promote recruitment of the best-qualified people with fair and consistent practices

- Compensation and Benefits
- Provide comparable compensation and benefits packages for qualified employees
- Facilitate and oversee annual benefit renewal; benefit-related instruction, assistance, and administration for all qualified staff throughout the year; oversight of annual health assessment
- Compensation administration including wage and equity evaluations, merit increases, Performance Award Plan (PAP) (as applicable), and pay matrices to ensure consistency throughout Association
- Job description updates; determine FLSA status and ensure compliance
- Report and file all Worker’s Compensation claims according to regulations
- Administer Unemployment Insurance
- Staff Development and Training
- Development and facilitation of career enhancement tools and training initiatives
- Develop and facilitate consistent new staff onboarding across Association
- Develop and facilitate management training and certification classes
- Staff Engagement and Retention
- Promote an exceptional staff experience to inspire a high level of employee morale
- Develop and facilitate employee recognition initiatives
- Build effective internal communication practices
- Oversee the annual staff satisfaction survey (e.g., SEER); report results to appropriate leadership
- Policy and Compliance
- Ensure a safe, healthy, and secure work environment through the development and support of policies and practices
- Update, publish and distribute the employee handbook
- Develop and maintain Manager’s Policy and Processes online manual
- Human Resource Record-keeping and Administration
- Oversee data-entry portion of payroll
- Government reporting and tracking (PCORI, I-9’s, SC New Hire, NC99001 report, OSHA, FMLA, STD/LTD leaves, etc.)
- Ensure compliance with all government regulations (ACA, DOL, WC, UI, LLRC, STD/LTD)
- Ensure permanent employee files are created, updated, and secured; ensure confidentiality of employee information
- Utilize HR technology that fosters efficiency and accuracy in recruitment and record keeping
- Communication and Employee Relations
- Provide recommendations to the Association’s Chief leadership related to HR’s areas of influence and expertise
- Provide necessary information to branch leadership regarding staff issues
- Provide relevant and helpful information to staff regarding employment at the YMCA of Greenville
- Plan and facilitate the organization of staff events, Association staff meetings, and required training.
- Provide mediation between staff and leadership when necessary
- Assist employees with work-related or personal issues that affect performance
- Minimum of 8 (eight) years of comprehensive and progressive HR experience with a proven Human Resources Generalist career track
- Minimum of 5 (five) years of management/supervisory experience
- Must be versed in all federal and state wage and hour regulations and with all aspects of employment law
- Ability to create a shared vision primarily through a strategic plan

- Master’s Degree preferred
- YMCA experience preferred
- Ability to speak two or languages preferred
Salary: $66,000.00 - $76,000.00
