The Decatur County Family YMCA is seeking an organized, enthusiastic, self-starter, and a cause-driven leader. This is an excellent opportunity for an innovative Director to help coordinate a 21st Century Afterschool Program, lead Youth and Adult Sports leagues/classes/camps. Oversee rentals and assist with special events. Duties include the supervision, management, and safety of all participants, and the planning/implementation of daily/weekly programming. Recruit, hire, train, supervise, motivate and evaluate staff to assure effective and efficient performance. Assist in development and overseeing department budget.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Plan, schedule, supervise, and staff all Youth & Adult Sports Programs, Leagues, and Open Gym times. May be responsible for refereeing or officiating.
  • Help supervise, plan, and implement activities that will meet or surpass all of 21st CCLC program goals and objectives
  • Develop focused, creative and interactive academic and enrichment programs to be delivered during the out-of-school time.
  • Develops and maintains collaborative relationships with the school and community organizations.
  • Reviews and evaluates staff performance. Develops strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals.
  • Help plan and implement family nights and other parental involvement activities.
  • Establish clear behavior expectations for program participants and ensure that they are fully established throughout the programs
  • Must be computer proficient using Microsoft Office software programs and previous experience with database software programs.
  • Help develop and monitor budget for rentals, Youth leagues, camps and classes.
  • Lead all aspects of Building Rentals, including staffing
  • Assist with Special Events: Corporate Challenge and Golf Outing
  • Assist with Summer Day Camp and Specialty Camps
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Associate Executive Director
Educational Background: 
Minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Sports Management, Elementary or Physical Education, Recreation, Psychology, Human Services, Social Work, Child Development, or related field is preferred.
Skills/Experience: 
  • Experience in youth programming preferably in a school setting
  • Ability to communicate with different audiences including school administration, teachers, parents, students and community members
Compensation/Benefits: 

Benefits include 100% health insurance (individual) and 12% retirement.

Salary: $28,000.00 - $35,500.00
