The Membership Service Director is responsible for hiring, training and supervising of all welcome center staff.  The Membership Service director will have the responsibility to initiate membership services, welcome center procedures, membership campaigns, membership development and retention at the facility in accordance with the policies of the YMCA.  Membership Service Director will also assist with corporate memberships.

Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees, planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Responsible for the balancing of end-of-shift reports.
  • Works closely with CEO to relay information from staff to members and members to staff.
  • Aid with brochure development.
  • Develop and monitor membership and welcome desk budgets.
  • Must have strong communication skills, practical and strong decision making skills, versatility, initiative and strong human relations skills.
  • To meet with and oversee Membership Committee. 
  • To follow YMCA Member Engagement Policy. 
  • To attend staff meetings and training sessions as directed. 
  • To communicate a positive attitude to all members, program participants and staff. 
  • Assist in long range planning process and execution of the objectives developed in that process. 
  • To accept additional responsibilities as deemed appropriate in order to help the YMCA accomplish its Mission.
  • Responsible for membership development and retention.
  • Assist with corporate membership plan. 
  • Assist with Marketing of memberships, programs and facility.
  • Maintain accurate membership records and reports.
  • Plans and executes established membership campaigns to maximize enrollments.
Educational Background: 
Bachelor's degree in related field or equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 
  • At least one year previous supervisory experience in customer service and/or sales preferred.
  • Excellent personal computer skills and experience with standard business software.
  • Complete within 30 days of hire: Child Abuse Prevention Training; New Employee Orientation; CPR; and First Aid Training
  • Ability to relate effectively to diverse groups of people from all social and economic segments of the community and successful clearance of background check.
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $28,000.00 - $38,000.00
