Areas of Responsibility: 
  • Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees (both lifeguards and swim instructors), planning, assigning and directing work, appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
  • Be prepared to be a scheduled active lifeguard each week as well as whenever needed.
  • Prepare and communicate pool schedules in a timely advanced manner.
  • Conducts lifeguarding, swim instruction, First Aid and CPR trainings.
  • Process payroll for all branch aquatic staff in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Collaborates with branch staff to ensure excellence and consistency in service through daily care of members, program participants and volunteers.
  • Ensure the branch’s AEDs are regularly inspected.
  • Monitors daily pool operations to adhere to all state, local and YMCA health and safety regulations.
  • Coordinate pool maintenance/repair with the Facility Director.
  • Any other duties as assigned by supervisor.
Educational Background: 
A bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Human Services, related field or experience equivalent.
Skills/Experience: 

As a member of the YMCA Leadership Staff, the Aquatics Program Director:

  • Develops, organizes and implements high quality, member-focused YMCA aquatic programs. Ensures a safe, fun, and enjoyable aquatic experience for members and program participants.
  • Provides leadership, direction and manages all aquatic programming, staffing, and budgeting
  • Assists with aspects of a 21st Century Community Learning Center site
  • Qualifications
  • A bachelor's degree in Physical Education, Human Services, related field or experience equivalent.
  • Previous work experience in aquatics/recreation field 
  • Proven responsibility in budgeting, programming, staffing

Required Certifications

  • Lifeguard Trainer Certification
  • CPR, First Aid, AED, O2, Blood borne Pathogen Trainer Certification
Compensation/Benefits: 

Salary: $26,000.00 - $32,000.00
